Re: PBY ship dates ???

April 10th

From the Motorpool ....
Armour Dates their PBYs
When Armour Collection announced their intent to make a 1:48 scale PBY Catalina, it seemed like the diecast world drew its collective breath. Long a favorite among aviation enthusiasts, the PBY Catalina became one of the most iconic planes of World War II, particularly in the Pacific Theatre of Operations, where it was used with great success as a scout plane, search and rescue aircraft, and even a night time bomber.
That said, the manufacturer has acknowledged that they are expecting the first wave of floatplanes on April 10th, making them ideal candidates for graduation gifts and Father's Day offerings. Both planes qualify for free UPS ground shipping within the continental US, and, if you play it smart, can be discounted if you time it just right with our new sales promotion.....[posted 4/1/2008]

Re: PBY ship dates ???

I have been wondering if it's because of the weight...falling backwords like a tail dragger does.
With the gears down and all i would think they use a pin to hold the back up...Kinda like Corgi did.
This is after all a heavy plane for a 1:48 scale.

George Preddy was........Just the greatest fighter pilot who ever squinted through a gunsight.
He was a complete fighter pilot......Colonel John C. Meyer Deputy Commander of the 352nd.

Yes... however, they are aluminum, so not as heavy as they would have otherwise been.
