FLIR (Sniper XR)

Question for the FM experts.

Do any of the FM jets have the FLIR (Sniper XR) Targeting Pod and/or GPU-12 (Guided Bomb Unit-12)?

If you mean this one: then no such luck!

Merritec - None that I'm aware of, although 99% of all of the Armour/FM F-117's (except for the "American Flag" limited edition version mounted on a stand) depict the GBU bomb (x 2) being carried. Google "Armour F-117" & click on "images" - or go to "The Flying Mule" website & click on Armour or Franklin Mint models & specify the F-117. Hope this helps... - JY

Re: FLIR (Sniper XR)

Yes, guys that is the one. Thanks for the input. I have had the question to FM for months now and still don't have a reply. I am doing a special commission and that is one of the ordnance they wanted.
Now I can go back and ask for a different load.

Merritec - Although it never went into production, the USAF very briefly experimented with a retractable gatling gun (20mm, I believe) that was housed within one of the weapons bays - the ammunition hopper was housed within the other. A sort of "night-fighter" version, I think. The gatling gun was mounted on a fast-extending/fast-retracting rigid frame - it would pop down, the pilot would lock on & fire, hit another button & the whole assembly would just as quickly pop back up into the bay & the door would close over it. I've heard it was tested on a framework, but never actually installed. Work on the upcoming F-22 & F-35JSF apparently killed the project as the F-117 (limited) assembly line was getting ready to shut down. Would've been a rather exciting thing to see in action, I'd say... - JY
