No kidding, huh -- FM's come back a bit in my collection after a big purge not too long ago... though at least now I know what the wheat and the chaff are, so to speak

Re: Pics: FM P-47D "Angie"

Fantastic photos Pappy! I'd love to see you photograph the No Guts No Glory one. I think the FM P-47's are one of their better planes. There's some real heft to them also.

Thanks, Rock, and I'd love to shoot that one, too -- if I could find one for a decent price !

I know the feeling.. I keep buying models I sold over the years because I change my mind or go another direction with my collection.. BTW, I just bought a Green Kate today and can't wait till it gets here..

Re: Pics: FM P-47D "Angie"

Super pictures Pappy.

I also like the FM P-47s, and I own four so far (including a very recent acquisition on e-bay of an RAF cammo version, for practically peanuts. The others I have are Eagleston, Gabreski, and French AF). I may get this one as well if I can get a great deal somehow. I have the 1/32 21st Century "Angie" but I'm not all that happy with it (mostly because of the "girlie" landing gear).

FVD

Thanks FVD, I think that's why I'm on a bit of a FM "binge" -- the prices on ebay right now for good stuff are, well, too good for me to pass up.. I agree that the P-47s are one of FM's better efforts. I hope the Razorback isn't as screwed up as the pre-pros suggest!

Aiken's has a few left for just $200 each.

Yeah, note the last part of that statement (though I know you're yankin' my chain -- seems to be a trend around here these days )

Yep, I think Mr. Aikens get a little carried away in his prices. He's sort of the Tiffany's of die-cast.

Re: Pics: FM P-47D "Angie"

Thanks FVD, I think that's why I'm on a bit of a FM "binge" --

Pappy - I think even I, must be outdoing ya at the moment, on 'F.M.' stuff (in 1/48th)

I've just got back (an hour ago) from buying another SIX x 'F.M' 1/48th a/c, including 3 x P.38's & a B.25 Mitchell !!!!!!!!

While I was at the warehouse, I was asking after this very "one & the same" P.47 - (B.292) - the subject of this thread = (It's your fault, Pappy = those lovely pix !!!!!!)

As it happens; it WASN'T in stock - HOWEVER about 5 others were........

I examined the 'F.M.' P.47's in some detail - looks nice, but one glaring-worry for me, that your model looks ok with.........

For some reason - (probably the Black-painted tail), that awkward & clumsy fuselage-'tail-fin' joint doesn't look 1/2 as bad, as it does, seeing it on other 'F.M.' P.47's in their range !!!!!!!!

Today (this afternoon), I've had in my hands.......

"C.998" "Bloom's Tomb" -- "B.613" "Big-Ass-Bird" -- "E-078" "Burma SEAC"--
"Gabreski's HV*A" "56th,F.G." (sorry, can't remember Cat.No.) & a French Olive-Drab '47 --
& "B.294" "57th,F.G."

SIX = 'F.M.' P.47's that all have one 'nasty' trait...... the tail-fin front/fillet-join line.

On the "Gabreski" one, it's prob' the least-noticable.......

Neither does it notice on your pix Pappy, of the (beautiful) "B.292" "Angie"

But the others, it stands out ENOUGH to put me off........!!!!!!!!!

& although I liked the markings on "C.998" "Bloom's Tomb"; does ANYONE on here know why it's painted "Overall-Grey" instead of "Silver" (N.M.F.) ?????????????

Anyone else wanna comment on the P.47 front tail-fin/fuselage joint, or doesn't it bother them?????? I'm curious

Doesn't bother me. Never really noticed it till you brought it up. But, it's your own opinion that really matters.
