Re: What would you do?

Memories of a Viggen,... modelled that years ago. Layer after layer of masking and painting. Must have changed the total weight of my model by several grams but it worked out well.

D'oh! That's why I collect diecast. I don't have the time, skill and patience to build models myself.

Well, I might ask somebody to build Mackits kits to my specs.

More money to burn... Oh well!

Any pictures to share? I really would like to see the results. It might be the toughest scheme to do and I'm not sure if I want to take a chance to ruin my plane...

Thanks

Re: What would you do?

Let's see. I have 4 votes for scheme #3. Actually, I like them all and I would probably do them all if I had the time. The easiest one is probably the Swiss Tiger Meet but I really like the first agressor picture and scheme #1.

AA, very nice suggestion. If I decide to go this way, I'll post some pics to show how good looking it is or how bad I screwed up!!!

No pixs I'm afraid. Sold it many years ago.

When model was ready for painting:
spray base colour, in my case, green.
mask areas you want to stay green.
Spray with second colour.
Mask areas you want to stay second colour.
Spray third colour and so on.

When finished fine sand, polish and use finish coat.
That's how I worked it out.

The Viggen had an irregular mottled camo.

The Digicamo might actually be easier since all shapes are regular,..... it's still a bitch to do and rather time consuming.

Re: What would you do?

Funny CPN,

I was asking myself the same question a while back.

The best scheme would be a digicamo F/A-18.

AA, Here's somebody who actually made it!!! It sure looks awesome but I don't know If I'm up to the challenge... Anyway, I thought you would like to see it.

Thanks CUPN,

that is a real nice model!!!

Hm, I think I'll have to ask around locally who can make such a model out of the Mackit kit I have.
