Re: Pics: FM P-38 Putt Putt Maru

Let's see, I have Putt Putt maru, marge, Yippee, Jandina, and still want to get Pudgy.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Pics: FM P-38 Putt Putt Maru

Very good looking model. Must be pretty big in 1/48. Any chance of a piccie with the Corgi 1/72?

Don't have the Corgi version, so no... and yes, it is big, but that's all part of the charm. I must say I like how 1:48 displays -- I took a shelf of 1:72 out of the cabinet last night (15-20 planes) and replaced them with three 1:48s... looks much better, but certainly forces you to make some tough choices.)

They are both right. The markings changed a bit. I have a signed color picture of the aircraft, and it is spot on with FM versions, but I have seen theother version in pics as well.

Be assured that both FM and 21st Century renditions of Charles MacDonald's P-38 "Putt Putt Maru" is correctly decorated. I also have the 21st CT version.
You are probably confusing MacDonald's mount from that of Tommy McGuire Jr.'s "Pudgy -xxx" P-38 as he has so many nose artwork changes to his P-38 Lighting as it evolved to the later variants.

Well in that case FM did some 'over-kill' on decorating their Putt Putt P-38 I suppose. Why they did that will remain a mystery to me!

Re: Pics: FM P-38 Putt Putt Maru

I guess I lucked out too. I have three (Putt Putt Maru, Marge and Cal. Cutie) and none of them have this problem with the canopy.

Either you guys are really lucky or I am really unlucky--I have 2 Marges, Jack, Cal Cutie and Putt Putt, and all have that same defect, some
worse than others. Maybe when my orders go in they have 'sucker' printed on them.

Congrats on your pickens Pappy, and on the P-47 Angie. I too have been watching for certain FM's. I have the Putt Putt, 8 Ball, Jacks, Pudgy, Cali Cutie and Armee Del Air. I also picked up P-47
"No Guts No Glory".
