Pics: FM 1:48 P-38 "Jandina IV"

Got lucky last week (skunky....) and won this in a snipe shootout on ebay by a mere $.09.... and got it for a great deal, too, considering what the few still in stock list for anyways. Very glad I did, been looking for a deal on this one for ages and it was worth the wait. More pics -- at higher resolutions -- are up now with the review on the site.

This model was released as a special commission at the Wings Over Houston Air Show in 2001... 1,500 were made, which for FM is a small run. A squadron patch was included with the model, and it has the air show logo printed on the bottom of the model, too. Anyone know if FM did more commissions like this one?

Winning this one made up for losing out on Uncle Cy's Angel a few minutes before due to an internet crap out while I was waiting to snipe...

Nothing to compare it to at the moment. I have California Cutie and Marge.

Congrats Pappy!

Nah, I've got a baby FM collection compared to a few others we all know around these parts -- I've 13 FM models at the moment... (I've sold many that are posted on the site.)

I currently have in the hangar:

1 Lib
2 P-38s (one more on the way, and hopefully one more, eventually)
5 Phantoms
1 P-51
1 SBD
1 B-26
1 Huey
1 MiG 17
1 P-47

Everything but the P-51 and 1 Phantom are in my office on display...

(The boxes are up in the attic crawl space...)

Re: Pics: FM 1:48 P-38 "Jandina IV"

This model is pure class. Someone sold one on Model Hangar last year, my first introduction to this sweet plane. The seller had 2 and was selling one of them (If I recall).

There are several Franklin Mint P-38s worth looking at, at least one with light blue trim w/ white piping. This may be the year I finally purchase a FM P-38 and P-47.

If FM will make a P-38M 'Nightfighter' Lightning I will buy it pronto! At least it should make up for the vacant spot where the P-61 Black Widow ought to occupy my space for the time-being.
