Re: Armour / The Franklin Mint vs. Flight Simulator X

Wow, love those comparison shots -- actually makes me want to load up the sim and try it out! Are those custom skins or are they included with the game?

Hi PappyB,
yeah it's cool to extend the die-cast collection with a "virtual" one,
since it's getting harder and harder to find models for my Armour Hornet and Jolly Rogers collections!!

... actually it's all custom or add-ons:

Tomcat Jolly Rogers is from IRIS ... superb details !!
simMarket: IRIS - F-14A TOMCAT

The desert scheme Aggressor Hornet is included in the Acceleration Pack
YouTube - FSX Acceleration pack, F/A18A Hornet - f. video by Tomgun

The marauders hornet is free custom texture for the acceleration hornet

The CAF Tigermeet is included in the Xload Add-on,
but I had to change into a single-seat version ... like the real one
Captain Sim – Overview

The swiss twin-seater is a free custom texture for the Xload hornet.

... my virtual collection is huge now .... it would be cool to have all these planes in die-cast too !!
cheers
M.F

Nice shots. The virtual tiger meet is awesome.I see some discrepancies between the virtual and the Armour models... probably coming from Armour.

Oh, man, excellent, Model Fan! Thanks for posting.

I also like your Aussie F-18 diorama. Only thing missing is a pilot in the cockpit though. I wish FM/A provided those.

Cool Re: Armour / The Franklin Mint vs. Flight Simulator X

Nicely done model.fanatic. I'm seeing plenty of 1/48 FM Jets this weekend. Looking good.

Thanks for all the info lowdown on the above, Model Fan! What Graphics Accelerator card(s) do you use on your PC - NVIDIA or ATI? Thanks!

Thumbs up Re: Armour / The Franklin Mint vs. Flight Simulator X

@ ZS-VAN, FormerViperDriver, coldupnorth, flyXwire ... hey thank you sirs !!

... do you guys fly simulator too?

@ flyXwire: it's an NVIDIA GeForce 8600... is quite ok, but maybe I'll upgrade it to the 8800 in some time...

Here's a Blue Angels special for my American friends ... and a free dambusters Chippy Ho! texture which I found yesterday...
cheers

I've had some seat time in simulators at NASA AMES, California back in the 80s. Cool that you use the NVIDIA GeForce 8600 graphics accelerators on board your PC. The "CPU Over-Clocking" switch features in that card is pretty awesome!

I don't, but seeing that sure makes me want to start. What software is it?
