| 1:100 Armour WWII planes Picked these up for a bit of nothing lately and, being a 109 fanatic, I thought they were.........cute! The one looks like the a JG 26 bird but no idea on the other... Love to have others post pics and thoughts on these little beauties. I hope to get the Greenhearts one next. [IMG] [/IMG][IMG] [/IMG] | |||||||||||||

I believe it belongs to 3( J ) LG 2 operating on the Czech border, August 1939. So far no info on the pilot but there seems to be a question about the cowling being red or in regular RLM70-71.

| Re: 1:100 Armour WWII planes Dear all, I found the following details concerning Red 15 : Bf 109 E-3 of 3.(J)/LG 2 September 1939 piloted by Heinz < Pietsch > Brenütz.The name Peter was painted in white on the engine cowling.Peter was a common nick-name which Brenütz also carried on his Bf 109 in Spain in which he claimed three victories. He was later awarded the Ritterkreuz on 22 October 1940. | |||||||||||||

| Re: 1:100 Armour WWII planes Hello, it is me again. I also found some details in my little book shelf concerning the Yellow 1.Here we go: Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-4 flown by Obtl.Gerhard Schöpfel of III./JG 26 circa 18.August.Finished in a high demarcation 02/71 finish, the top segment of the rudder and tips of the wings and tailplane are painted yellow.A yellow pennant is attached to the antenna mast and beneath the cockpit is the red Höllenhund ( hellhound ) emblem of 9./JG 26 and ahead of it, the JG 26 Schlageter shield. It was while flying this aircraft during the early afternoon of 18 August that Schöpfel shot down four Hurricanes of 501 Sqn. near Canterbury. Just to add some historic background to these models. | |||||||||||||

| Re: 1:100 Armour WWII planes Back in the day, when Armour was the best you could get, I sort of went "bonkers' and picked up at least one of every 1:100 mold. I have almost all the P-51, four FW-190s, severl Tomcats, several F-104s, and four F-86s. The F-15 is fairly nice. Some of these wre going for over $50 - $100 a few years ago. The Corsairs are especially rare. | |||||||||||||

| Re: 1:100 Armour WWII planes
I have the Aluetian Tiger P-40 too and it's nice too. About like these....paid $6. I think they're good for $12 or less depending.
Thanks for that and welcome to our little diecast aviation hole in the ground. I will look for more on this using what you posted.
Dragon did this plane I think too so I knew of Oblt. Schöpfel actually. I looked it up then but ended up with the Fritz Losigkeit version which is nearly the same.
