Yeah, and also "finesse and technique" counts the most in my book as well!

Re: New 2008 FM shown at Aikens

Heya guys,

I have a postage-sized house but a large basement. I keep my models in storage and take one or two out at a time to keep me company upstairs. I am not a display cabinet kind of guy.

2 PBYs would be no problem for me. I love the size and weight, and if FM does them right, in nice prewar or early schemes, I will be in line.

Cabinets would not do for me. Shoot I would either end up with glass that had either nose prints or finger prints from trying to get closer look at the models. Currently I am in the process of clearing up some more space, but as much as I would like, not enough for some of the bigger pieces,

What about the "dust-factor" , if not displayed in cabinets ????????

At one time I had just over 250 Cruver ID models, now that was a dusting chore. Shoot those models seem to be dust magnets. Once a week I take a small makeup brush (No not one for personal use) and give each model a once over. Even if I had the room, not sure that I would want them behind glass. I do ensure that they do not receive direct sunlight (Do the same for my Marklin trains) to prevent fading. I also have a fairly large collection of Marklin trains, which reminds me they probably are do for a dusting too (That one is still a pain).

Yeah, CC, I also use a brush, but I use a half-inch soft paintbrush. I'm thinking about using compressed air, though (like those keyboard cleaners).

I just spent an enjoyable evening moving 3 of my display cases and re-arranging my models. Managed to free up another shelf. That's bad because now I will want to fill it.

Re: New 2008 FM shown at Aikens

I wonder if the PBY's will have beaching gear?

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.
