Re: New 2008 FM shown at Aikens

The "Spotted Ape" is also new for 2008... I can't believe it! My uncle flew this assembly ship after he finished his missions with the 458th Bombardment Group. I may just have to break down and add one of those huge, heavy, under-detailed B-24s to my collection.

Hat's off to your uncle for serving our country, Elmer. {salute icon}

Now, back to you. Please don't buy an FM B-24. You will hate it.

Leave the FM B-24 lovin' to me. {bird icon}

Cool Re: New 2008 FM shown at Aikens

That Pearl Harbor PBY looks cool (wingspan wider than the B-17 ). Also like the new Typhoon. The Israel & French Mirage look good, but I'll wait till I see some actual photos to see if they reworked the fuselage geometry problems. New F-22 should be a good one, colors look a liittle weird in the artwork but I think it'll be fine on the actual model (hopefully the cockpit will be painted and they don't hang a bunch of stuff under the wings ).

Re: New 2008 FM shown at Aikens

...granted, both of FM's choices are more visually "interesting".

just my 2 cents...

Besides, the retailers I know tell me the first "interesting" colored B-24 wasn't selling THAT well.

From a strictly financial point of view this makes me wonder why on earth they do a second?!

Re: New 2008 FM shown at Aikens

Although I have quite a few models from this line, I gave up on it due to lack of detail and related issues two or three years ago. I must admit, however, that the new FW-190---red 19--- looks most interesting. Even so, I'll wait for more pictures before buying it.

Re: New 2008 FM shown at Aikens

The PBY is a new mold I think. As far as the new FW-190 goes, it is the same as the 21st C. one. The 262 is the same as Corgi and so is the P-38. The B-25 is a rehashed Crab 2nd... HM has the same Wildcat. Same planes, new scale.

Is this a little industrial espionage or just luck? With the possible exception of the P-38 there is nothing there for me.

I agree it's funny how you look at these diecast that FM makes and see that Corgi or HM made the same thing in 1:72nd...At least it's a different scale for the 1:48 collector...So in order for FM to make a P-61 one of the others has to make it first in 1:72nd...

Yes, the Gramper B-24 was a dog of a seller. But, the new marshalling B-24 appears a bit more palitable (sp?) with the dots on the wings. Gramper was bit sparse and not a good representation for the type. Oh, and AA, love the barf icon.
