Re: New Release RAAF Mirage III

Came across this Feb release from our friends down under

Well, now, I'm very intrigued by this picture. It looks as though FM actually corrected the mould on their Mirage with a properly shaped spine! Is that possible?

If this is true (I'd like to see a couple more pictures from other angles to be absolutely certain), then this could be a future purchase. And it leaves hope for a future Israeli scheme (or two).

Hmm, interesting.

Exactly what I'm thinking FVD! More pics would be great. If its been sorted I'd be open to getting an example, hopefully South African or Israeli, French if they do another.

Re: New Release RAAF Mirage III

Franklin Mint needs to do more than correct that overstated hump behind the cockpit. The Australians used the Mirage IIIO, a version with airframe changes from the Mirage IIIC previously released.

Cool Re: New Release RAAF Mirage III

The IIIO is a variant of the IIIE. From the outside, it looks similar to the IIIS : No doppler radome, short spine fin, late type of nozzle...

Maybe, but first things first. No sense in talking about details when the basic shape of the aircraft is very incorrect. It appears at least they may have corrected the most egregious error, that's a good start.

Not too many diecast manufacturers get the small variant details right anyway, in any scale, for any airplane. It's a matter of getting pretty close in most cases. But the Quasimodo version of the Mirage III just didn't hack it.

Ditto that FVD, it may just be me but it also looks like the canopy is different from the past two models.
