B-25 Michell

A diecast hobby shop in my AO is going to close shop by end of this month, and I need your help in deciding which one of the two I should get -
B11E346 B-25 "Russell's Raiders" or B11E202 B-25J "Lady Lil"? I'm only getting one btw, so if I would appreciate your thoughts on which
one of the two you would most likely pick or recommend to get? Thanks!

Hey Fly -- Personally I'd go for the Lady Lil, you can't beat that scheme IMHO... and FM's B-25s are pretty nice overall, too. (so you can't really go wrong with either, they are both interesting schemes)I trust you're getting a good deal I hate to hear of shops closing though, which one if I may ask?

Maybe a good way to choose is to just look the two over really carefully and take the one that's got the best QA? Also check to see if one has stickers and one's all pad-printed?

Re: B-25 Michell

I only have two FM B-25's and there both the Doolittle Raiders.....
So i would pick B11E202 B-25J "Lady Lil" But not the decal one . But Russell's Raiders
a Mediteranean-based North American B-25 Mitchell s/n 45-8811
serving in Italy during World War II.
Russell's Raiders is named for actress Jane Russell, who was discovered by Aviator, Aircraft Designer, Airline President and Movie Producer, Howard Hughes.
Her image adorns the aircraft as its nose art.
She is also a airshow bird that looks cool..

Hey Pappy, I think you know this place: Diecast City at Rocklin! Talked to the owner last Sunday and he's liquidating all his inventory. Too bad I was too late in finding this out, and I was gonna go for some of his display cabinets but it was all sold! Btw, Lady Lil is decal'ed and Russell's Raiders looks to be pad printed. Both looked perfect upon
further scrutiny, but that's only on the surface....

Re: B-25 Michell

Yeah FlyX go w/ Pappy's suggestion and check for decals vs. painted markings.

Also, consider which model appears to have the best overall finish, and which plane appeals to you most.

The FM B-25 is way cool and worth getting.

Ooops...yeah you're technichally correct, JP! Yeah, the store had more motorsports-related diecasts than airplanes. I may indulge myself on some - 20% off at the moment!

Re: B-25 Michell

Personally I'd prefer Russel's Raiders because of the nice camo job.

Ah, that's a bummer -- that place has been there a while! Wish I knew that this weekend when I was up in that area.... ah well, probably better I didn't!

Given that it's pad-printed, I'd probably go for the Raider then... how's that for fickle?

What did his Corig inventory look like? Other aircraft brands?

Re: B-25 Michell

Fly,
I've got the "Lady Lil", "Apache Princess" and the "Doolittle Tokyo Raiders". My favorite is the "Lady Li" because of the paint scheme and guns bristling from the nose. The only thing that kinda sucks is the nose art looks to be a decal instead of "tampo" printed. Other than that, the plane is perfect (IMHO).

I wanted a Mitchell that included a tail gunner position instead of just a "stick" poking out the tail (like on the early B-25's). Both the "Apache Princess" and "Lady Lil" have this and are really complement each other nicely. The "Apache Princess" has the glass nose and is painted olive drab while the "Lady Lil" has the armored nose and is natural silver.

I don't have the "Russell's Raiders" but am thinking about it. It's hard to find room for four planes that size and there are more pressing needs right now.

Good luck!
