Re: Your favorite FM a/c moulds?

That canopy does not slide open here is a real picture of this diecast.
This whole canopy comes off ...Look at all the logos on that P-40N .....
JP

There are 28 nations marking on this P40.

In truth I think only about 15 nations used the P40, but thats not a bad total. it must have been some good for all those nations to use it.

Starman I have a problem, I really want this example. I know its not one of FMs best but who else will make this little lady?

The Carousel P40s are superb, every collector should have at least one (or two or).

Can any of you gentlemen tell me where I can get hold of one of these. There does not seem to be any this side of the water.

God Bless America.

Re: Your favorite FM a/c moulds?

Hi Jim,
I don't have it but the picture of it sure looks cool . What's that trailing edge extension on the wing. Doesn't look like it's on the others.

Thanks,
aeroeng

I think that is just the camera angle aeroeng, its the flap hanging down.
You are right , it is a cool scheme and certainly one for a P40 fan.

Re: Your favorite FM a/c moulds?

What's the deal with Turkey being counted twice?

What's the deal with the pseudo US prewar insignia on the middle of the flap?

What's the deal with my ignorance of such?

Don't know why the Turks were counted twice, but the pseudo US prewar insignia is actually the marking for the Guatamalan Air Force....whose acronym en Espanol Fuerza Aerea Guatalama probably is the worst acronym for any air force...how would you like to be a pilot in the FAG. You can tell it from the prewar American with the red dot because Guatamala's is all Blue. I'm not too sure if the FAG ever flew P-40s but they did operate P-26s for quite some time...until the CIA backed coup replaced their government in 1954 with some help from mercenary flown P-47s. On the subject of National insignia, Somalia also aped the US, having the post May 1942 Star on Circle as their insignia till the country collapsed into the anarchic cesspool depicted in Blackhawk Down.

Re: Your favorite FM a/c moulds?

There are more doubles, I spotted at least two and it appears there's one of each logo on the left and one on the right side of the model.

Edit: not true. There are doubles on the same side too.

BUT BUT GUYS WHERE DO I GET ONE ??????????????????????????????????????????????

I have just got to have this one, even if its not that good it will act as a final model for the P40 series, and its something different for the cabinet.

Many thanks Armour Addict, I jumped straight in and bought it!

I dont expect great things of this model, I have been warned its not so good but when I look through my P40 books its in there looking cool.
Well OK perhaps not cool but different.

You gentlemen are always so helpful, once again thank you Armour Addict and all of you that have been so helpful in the past.

So thats 2 FM P40s on the way now.

(yippee another 2 P40s for the collection, life is sweet).

Cool Re: Your favorite FM a/c moulds?

I had bought the following FM's models :

P51D Swiss AF
F4U7 FN
F6F5 FN
Me 109G Swiss AF
A6M2-N
DH Mosquito FBVI FAF
Me 262 (BK 50 cannon)
CAC Sabre MK32

The worst was the P51D, the F4U7 and A6M2-N were most disappointing, and the Mosquito and Me 109 everage ; the only really good ones being the F6F5, Me 262 and last but not least, the Sabre.

I have only kept the Sabre, as I consider it as the very best of the lot.
