Photos of B11B584 Black Panther Sabre

Last edited by STARMAN 352ND : 10-23-2007 at 06:34 PM. Reason: Posted pictures for John
Ok - the photos posted at the end of my own photo listing. Ya gotta go there to see 'em. Dunno why this happens - I posted them the same as I always do - sometimes they do this, and sometimes they go to the new thread site. Why they switch around like this I have no clue - maybe it has something to do with the size of the photos??
All I know is I entered "upload new image" with each shot, and after the first "box" shot, the rest of them went to my own photo listing.

Soooooooooo, look for them there!! If ANYONE can "rearrange" them and attach them to my original posting, feel free!! - JY

FlyXwire - Not 100% sure - it's a guy I know who builds & flys radio-controlled models - this one is actually powered by a real (tiny) jet engine & it screams!! - JY

Re: Photos of B11B584 Black Panther Sabre

Never realised that this model would be so rare??? I have seen it around however not for some time, guess I know why now, thanks for outlining the history surrounding this model : ).

I generally collect RAAF themed models primarilary 1/72 but I will sortie into the smaller and larger scales every now and again. I didn't purchase this one for "one" reason only and that is the upper wing roundels are incorrect the Kangaroos should be facing forward not to the side (Armour made a similar mistake with their RAAF Huey, the fuselarge skippy is facing to the rear)!!!

Apart from this it is a fine model.

Cheers CKS1

Cool Re: Photos of B11B584 Black Panther Sabre

OK, I give up. Who manufactured B11B584? Nice looking model, disregarding the incorrect rondel positioning, but let's not allow our insider attitudes to get in the way of passing on useful information. This is not a "Need to Know" site, I hope.

I believe it was Franklin Mint. The old Armour Cat# was 98259. later it was B11B584 and furthered possibly to B584,which now accounts for the current Cat. numbers. Lets not get carried away by accusing forum members of hoarding information.Throwing red ink at them is not a form of discussion. Moderate your approach somewhat and downsize the attitude and you will learn a lot.

Question Re: Photos of B11B584 Black Panther Sabre

Stalag8611 - Actually, with a great explanation from Armour Addict, I'm believing it was both the old Armour/CDC company (a very small "first run") and then later on, another "400+" second run for Pageley, Ptl; of Australia. Some were available for world-wide distribution, but not too many were purchased. FM says they don't know about the later run - I find that VERY hard to believe - since the model came in a modern (the one with all of the different airplanes featured on it) box, plus the white shipping box has www.FranklinMint.com printed in white against a dark blue background stripe all around the lower outer edge of the box. Pageley says "...400 shipped from FM Feb; 2004..." - the stamps on the box indicate shipped back to the US in Nov; 2005! Like I said earlier - more questions than answers...!! - JY
