Armour B11B584 Aus. Black Panther Sabre Photos & Rare SpecCast F-86 "Pre-Pro" Photos

Last edited by John Youngs : 10-24-2007 at 08:24 AM. Reason: correcting grammatical errors
I borrowed a friend's Kodak 7-megapixel digital camera (still looking for one of my own) to take these shots. Some are with flash - some without. I tried both ways as I wasn't sure what would come out better - in most cases, using the flash made the pix generally more clear & sharp.
The B11B584 Australian CA-27/Mk32 "Black Panther" Sabre has been a real elusive bird for me - it's taken me almost 4 years to find one - the first I've ever seen - these are, believe it or not, the first photos I've ever seen of this model!! I had to reduce the size of the photos considerably (down from an avg. of 1.2 to 1.3 megs in size originally) in order to get The Model Hangar Forum's software to not "time-out" before uploading was complete! That was one frustrating night, last night... I had one heckuva time trying to get that little "screw-with-a-handle" back into the bottom of the model when I was done - I finally gave up ( )!!! I've also gotten a LOT of conflicting information from FM regarding the production figures for this model. They told me Armour/CDC produced these about a year BEFORE FM took over in late Dec; 2001 - but the Australian distributor Pageley PTL told me that Armour/FM had sent them 400 of these models in Feb; 2004!! The white shipping box, as you can see, is current Armour/FM and the model's box is the newer variety with the "viewing window" in it. A lot more questions than answers...
I was glad to see the inclusion of the 30mm Aden cannon which is historically correct. What's NOT correct, unfortunately (they did the same thing with the more current "Black Diamond" Sabre, as well), is that Armour/FM chose to utilize the standard Sabre "nose" air intake shape, as opposed to the correct "vertically-elongated" nose reflecting the Rolls Royce Avon engine's need for greater airflow. The shape of the Australian Sabre's nose air intake is very distinctive, and should've been used. On a much more uplifting note, however, is the fact that tampo-pad-printed graphics were used through-out as opposed to water-slide decals - GREAT news!! I'm also a wee bit disappointed that no external ("drop") fuel tanks were used - just sidewinder missiles only. Hope you like these - they are free for anyone to copy - NO copyrighted status! -

The SpecCast "Pre-Production" F-86 is one of only 6 ever made & one of only 3 depicted with the L/E slats in the "down" or extended position. Review my earlier Thread posting for all the details - the photos are included herein, as well. If you've ever wondered what parts are plastic on your SpecCast F-86, anything you see herein that's black is plastic! None painted - everything is molded in black plastic!! The only exception being the strange little (enameled) "square" painted on the left rear portion of the fuselage just in front of the left horizontal tail surface. What its purpose is for is a mystery to me! - JY

Hey, John, all I see is a picture of a box with stamps on it?

Thanks for the review of that model. I have the SpecCast F-86 "MiG Poison" piloted by Jim Hagerstrom (WWII and Korean ace) which has the same features like the L/E slats in the extended position and with bombs included.

If you don't have an active cursor in the message window when you upload the image, the pics don't show up in your thread, but they will be in your image host gallery.... I've done this a few times.
