Angry Armour/FM spear parts??

I lost the tail guns from my B-17 "Carolina Moon". Either my kids or my cleaning girl. Is there any source I can contact to get the part that is missing???

Thanks.

Re: Armour/FM spear parts??

Welcome to the forum, mess89. I don't think Armour carries spare "spears" however!

Re: Armour/FM spare parts??

Hi mess89,
I posted here (at MH1) and at the UK forum trying to find a contact to get a tear drop antenna for a FM C-47. Never got a reply on either thread. I finally contacted a person in customer support through the FranklinMint.com web site. The customer service lady told me she'd try to get one for me but it would take a while. I asked if I could call in a few weeks for a status and she said she'd call me. Never have heard from them since I talked to them in April. A friend ended up getting one for me so I never called back. If anyone does know a source, I'd really like to know because I need the nose landing gear door that hooks to the strut of the ME262 bomber interceptor (ref photo below).

Thanks,
aeroeng

Re: Armour/FM spear parts??

Here is the response I got back from the Franklin Mint. I responded by complaining about the quality, etc. No further response was received. I'm upset because I was thinking of selling the model to make room for something new as the model is enormous.

Sorry about the "spear" typo

Dear Scott,

Thank you for your email.

fficeffice" />>>
As you may know The Franklin Mint was a pioneer in the reproduction of die-cast scale models, and from 1984 until this present day, we have offered hundreds of die-cast models to our collectors. Each of these models contained upwards of 100 individual component pieces. >>
>>
We also have investigated the possibility that we maintain a "parts department" for pieces to repair our model cars. This has been considered but due to the amount of space, time and personnel it would take to maintain this type of department, it was not a viable solution to the parts requests. >>
>>
We can only suggest trying a local hobby and craft shop that may specialize in model building to have your replica repaired. Another good source is the various chat rooms, message boards and organizations found on the Internet. We are very sorry to disappoint you in this matter and appreciate your understanding.

Re: Armour/FM spear parts??

Hi Mess89,
What I do in this sort of case is buy the model kit and 'ravage' it for parts when necessary. Monogram (owned now by Revell) makes a 1:48 scale B-17G, so you shouldn't have much of a problem getting what you need from that kit. The kit retails on the Revell dot com site for $29.25(!) There may be others makes too that I'm not aware of. Then it is just a file'n'fit to get a good match. You could try hobby shops for this, but I prefer swap meets and Toy Shows where guys are selling old stuff cheap (cause I'm cheap!). I don't have any 1:48 scale aircraft (let alone American ones) in my collection, otherwise I'd be happy to send you the spare rear guns from a matching kit.

Good luck in your quest and sorry to hear this manufacturer let you down. Bummer.
