P-51D Big Beautiful Doll, can someone review

I've got the FM Old Crow P51D (one of my first diecast pieces) and have to say that if one doesn't have anything with which to compare it with, it is acceptable. However, the FM P51D is generally mediocre ...

Sounds like you guys are saying to stay away from it. Any quality 1:48 Mustangs out there?

In diecast, only Eagles International's P-51B/C models.

I have the FM's BBD.It's sorta ok. Would have preferred the 1:32 Corgi. Even that model may enact groans of dismay from Forum members who don't particularly like all aspects of Corgi's renditions,

and I have about a squadron of those.

I am in between on models. Some consider me a rivet counter, and others not. I think that if you really want a P-51, and you can get over the gear doors, then they are O.K. Now that said, the gear doors were too much for me. The only FM P-51 I own is the Old Crow Signature Edition. The EI P-51's are awsome.

I'd recommend the GMP BBD instead ... its been on sale at many places recently and I just got it and think its superb. I have a couple FM Mustangs and well, let's just say if I could get enough to make it worth the time to sell them, I would, but I can't, so I haven't. :-)

I've got the Old Crow signature edition...The paint and markings are nice but the model itself is nothing stellar
