Question on FM Dauntless and Hellcat

Hey guys, I'm a 1/72 scale guy so I have never really looked into the FM collection. But today at my local hobby shop, they had some diecast out on a table as part of an estate sale. I grabbed a Dauntless that is kind of "sea foam green" in color, for lack of a better description. Anyway, it is mint but no box, and I got it for $7.00! Anyone know what piece this is, and are the colors even close to being accurate? They also had a Hellcat with a cats mouth nose art and a night fighter pod on the wing, is this livery correct, it has light blue and dark blue camo for a paint scheme. I really think the mold quality on the Dauntless is great! Thanks.

Re: Question on FM Dauntless and Hellcat

Made a mistake on the Hellcat, it was NOT a FM! So disregard that question...

Scroll down on that link and wait for the pics to load (wait longer if you have dial-up like me. lol). Is that the Dauntless you got for $7 bucks? If so... heckova nice find there bud!

I agree the SBD is one of FM's better molds.

You scored big on that Dauntless for $7 bucks, easy8...it doesn't get any better than that! Yup, I have the pre-war colour Marine SBD and I love it to death!

Re: Question on FM Dauntless and Hellcat

I found out which one I have...not as cool as the one you mentioned Snoopyace, but a nice piece all the same, and very very cheap!

Oh heck yeah. Great find. One of the best molds out there.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Question on FM Dauntless and Hellcat

One of only 2, 1:48 scale models I own. Also my avator on the forum.

From the 2004 Armour catalog:

"SBD-5 Dauntless

U.S. Marine Corps

VB-16

U.S.S. Lexington

VB-16 Gilbert Islands
Novenber 16, 1943

WWII
"

I'm not sure I get the "U.S. Marine Corps" and the "VB-16" Did marine units serve on board Navy carriers? Or is this a mistake?
