Re: FM F4F Wildcat vs. Carousel 1 F4F Wildcat

Elmer,

Hope you are sitting down.

I like C1's better!

TFM's does not seem to have pilot name, step area, and the rivet detail to me looks a little obnoxious. I also see a bit too much of a gap near the engine cowling.

I'm a big Butch O'Hare fan so I really like how C1 honored him specifically.

Wonders never cease.

Did you get hit on the head recently? (Kidding of course). Well, a great photo comparison is truly needed here! I see the gap on the nose. On the other hand, I never liked C1's gap running from the trailing wing edge to the tail along the fuselage. The FM model has a better fit in that area. The rivet detail... it is hard to tell from the pictures if it is well done, or obnoxiously done. I for one love rivet detail that is not badly overscaled (almost all rivet detail is overscaled anyway... but to my taste it makes for a more interesting model).

Re: FM F4F Wildcat vs. Carousel 1 F4F Wildcat

I have to of the C1 Wildcats, so I may not pick this up, but I might break down and get one. Who knows. Any how it is great to see FM do a good job with an airplane. Some of their molds are really great.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Ok... JP is out for the photo comparison. That leaves Mark or Pappy. I am not sure Pappy owns a C1; do you Pappy? If not, can I help you spend your money?

Someone out there in cyber space must have the FM Wildcat by now. Please share your thoughts.

Nope, I won't be ponying up for that one -- don't care for the schemes so far from FM enough. And no, don't own a C1 yet -- waiting for sales on that one. Why don't you take the plunge Elmer -- help some brothers out

HA! HA! Good one Pappy! Perhaps I will (but it can't be soon... I've decided to first spring for the pricey Tamiya Masterworks ME-262, T-Bolt, and Birdcage Corsair in fabuloso 1:48)!

Hello

I just posted a new thread on this same matter not realising that this one already existed.
Apparently, Hobby Master is coming up with a 1/48 Wildcat before the end of the year :

As for the existing F4F models by FM/A and C1, I had always read in most of your comments elsewhere that FM was crap and C1 was nice quality, but actually, in the Wildcat pictures I saw some time ago in The Flying Mule, it seems the other way around !!

Regards to everybody
