Swiss B-17-- yea or nay

Hi guys,

I have an opportunity from a local shop to buy FM's Swiss B-17 for $99 (no shipping, I'll carry it out).

Yes or no?

I am in the market for a FM B-17. Although I thought I'd buy a silver US one as seen on Joepilot, the Swiss one is right up there on my list, next to Give it to Uncle (the British B-17).

All votes count, and all votes will be counted.

Thanks guys!

Thumbs up Re: Swiss B-17-- yea or nay

That's a good price. I got this one (FM-B11E055) for $99 on a special at a local shop about a year ago. I've never seen the Swiss one in person but the photos sure look good.

Go for it Ara! I have the 1/48 Swiss B17 and it is a spectacular piece of HEAVY diecast that has an interesting history .

Wow. That is a big plane. Since I don't have a ton of space, I would pass on it in favor of a USAAF combat livery. However, if you have the space it you like the plane, go for it.

If you like the Swiss markings, I say go for it. IT is a good price on a FM B-17.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

The Swiss B17 is actually an 'interned' USAAF B17 that made a forced landing in Switzerland while on a combat mission. I speak under correction, but I believe that this particular aircraft was used for telemetry/SIGINT and was subsequently of great interest to the Swiss after it made its unscheduled 'stopover' in the alps.

Yes I do. It's not a mirror finish like real polished aluminum but it looks good. I'd recommend going to the hobby shop and looking at any of Franklin Mint's metal finish planes (B-24, P-38, B-25, P-51, etc.). They all have the same paint applied and you can judge if it's what you want .
