Question P-38's Your pick

Last edited by stalag8611 : 05-03-2007 at 01:51 AM. Reason: adding
I've been reviewing my 1:48 hanger and I've concluded that perhaps it's time to add another Lightning. I now own an early FM release, (FMB281), the yellow nose, D-Day striped livery, and I like it. In fact, it's the third oldest 1:48 in the hanger. So the question is: If you were going to add a 1:48 P-38 to your collection, what would it be?
Note: FM has 16 P-38s from which to choose.

Is there a good site or link that shows most of the available liveries? The FM '38 is nice, I have the same one as you -- I'll be happy to vote after a bit more research. (I do love helping to spend other's $)

Pappy, it appears that Aikens is the best and possibly the only source to view all 16 releases. I have "Marge" in 1:72, but I actually prefer the non-silver liveries better. Spend away, brother.

Re: P-38's Your pick

The blue Saint Exupery version has an interesting and relatively unique history given the exploits of the aforementioned pilot/author etc.

Yes, I have that one as well and as a fan of Sain-Ex, I really like it. It is an F-5, though, rather than a P-38.

I also have Marge, Pudgy V, and D-Day OD with yellow nose, and all are excellent. I guess I have a slight preference for Pudgy V, as shown in Starman's picture.

Re: P-38's Your pick

I've always liked the all-red YIPPEE and the silver P-38 with the light blue accents. It's called Virginia Marie, stock number B11B546.

My favorite P-38 in my collection and probably the rarest Armour bird I own:
