What's your opinion of FM/A Harriers?

Anybody here own one or two? Please let me hear your thoughts or recommendations - good or bad? Thanks.

I'm considering purchasing the
AV-8B Harrier II "Night Attack" and Harrier Mk 7 Royal Navy Sea Harrier below.

Well, of course the Sea Harrier is nothing of the sort, so that would exclude that one from my collection automatically. The Sea Harrier I have is a Corgi 1/72 which is very nice.

I own two FM Harriers, an RAF GR5 which I think is quite good overall, and a USMC AV-8B-Plus (radar nose), which is not quite as good due to the shape of the nose not being quite right. The "Night Attack" one looks OK and I think can be recommended.

Re: What's your opinion of FM/A Harriers?

Mmmmh, I got a couple of Harriers.

And I see it the same way as FVD, the SeaHarriers are nowhere near the original. They simply used the same mold as the "standard" Harrier.

Anyways, I can really recommend the CDC Harriers. Especially the B11B252 and B11B249.

The B11E395 is a beauty, I might buy one myself if I run across one cheap

Cheers

The one I have, I like very much, it's no longer available. Armour ,Cat # 98118 (FM: B252) representative VMA 231 Desert Storm. For choice and availability go to the onmarkint.com

Re: What's your opinion of FM/A Harriers?

I carry the B11B248 US Marines AV8B Harrier in my store and I think it's one of FM's better toolings. The paint detail, around the tires, is a bit sloppy and there is a visible mold line down the center of the canopy, but it's sold fairly well despite those two flaws. It's also a lot heavy than it looks. Customers are always surprised how heavy it is when they pick it up.

Re: What's your opinion of FM/A Harriers?

Thanks to all for the feedback. I'm leaning towards the AV-8B Harrier II "Night Attack" to purchase, and ditch the Harrier Mk 7 Royal Navy Sea Harrier
since it didn't garner any positive recommendations from you guys.

Re: What's your opinion of FM/A Harriers?

I think you will be happy with any USMC or RAF version of Armour's Harrier (I own 2 USMC and 3 RAF). As mentioned before, the models have an incredible amount of heft for their size and have what I consider to be good detailing throughout. I especially like the "blast cord" detail on the canopy surface. Stay away from the Royal Navy versions though, unless you want a model of aircraft that never existed( as rendered by FM/Armour ). Too bad they didn't spend the money on the correct airframe tooling, as the paint and markings on the RN versions that they did release are quite stunning IMHO. ----Happy collecting, markko
