What do you think of FM's P-38?

On a scale of 1 to 5 (with 1 being the worse model produced by FM and 5 among the best), how do you rate FM's P-38? Is the overall mold correct? Any glaring gaps, seams, or exposed screw heads? Is there one on the market that has tampo printed decals?

Re: What do you think of FM's P-38?

I also think that the P-38 is one of their best molds. I give it a 5. I prefer it to the Corgi one, plus I like 1/48th scale. I own Yippee, marge, and Putt Putt Maru.

Re: What do you think of FM's P-38?

Agree with Mustangdriver. I own the Marge, Pudgy V, Saint-Exupery F-5 (PR blue), and an olive drab with yellow nose/teeth//D-Day stripes (name escapes me at the moment). I love them all. I might own more (I love the P-38), but they do take up some space, and I have to show SOME restraint...

Full disclosure: I'm biased towards 1/48 scale.

I'll give it a 5. I've got Putt Putt Maru.

Re: What do you think of FM's P-38?

I have only one P-38 made by FM and it's "Pudgy V" Tommy McGuire plane.
It's one of the best looking P-38's i have seen and the other one i did have was"Putt Putt Maru" which was another nice one
But i gave that one to my father.
These P-38 are really nice but do take up space due to their long wings that's for sure.

Re: What do you think of FM's P-38?

The P-38 may be the best plane that FM offers. If not, it's right at the top. I have one that is a special issue and stopped looking with any seriousness for P-38s after I received it.

Rate = 5, Graphics are pad printed.

The P-38 IS one of FM's gem and best efforts, and I consider it to be accurately moulded. I have two of these myself - "California Cutie and Marge"! I may go for their F-5 "Photo Recon" Lightning,
and hell...if they made a P-38M Night Lightning mould I'd go for that one as well.

Absolutely, I'd HAVE to break down and get my 5th FM P-38 if they did that.

Though I may be scorned by the combat purists for saying so, I absolutely love "Yippee", it's one of my favorite P-38 models.

Re: What do you think of FM's P-38?

Nothing wrongwith Yippee as it was a real aircraft. I wish they would do more models like that. Maybe the B-17 V Grand or the B-25 Bones. Those are the aircraft that were signed by the workers on the assembly line. It would be difficult, but what an awsome model that would be.
