Re: F4 Phantom Robin Olds

I have this model as well, and love it. I also get to see the real deal at the museum.

I've always wondered this about museum restorations. Is that the real deal, or has that Phantom just been restored to that paint scheme?

Re: F4 Phantom Robin Olds

My Ricthie FM Phantom has AF 67 463 on it's tail.
I know that one is right.
I have seen pictures of Robin Olds Sqn and the tail on theirs is also AF 40 as well so i beileve this is the correct number for that plane.
Someone once told me they thought it was AF64-829 as olds F-4 as well but i can't confirm if that's true or not because i have not seen any pictures to show that AF 64.

Re: F4 Phantom Robin Olds

I just checked out the airliners.net site and i typed in the AF64-829 and it showed 3 different F-4's but get this their tail ID's were listed as AF40-829.

Interesting. Goes against everything I know about serials... but hey! what do I know after all. Thanks JP!

Re: F4 Phantom Robin Olds

I have no idea about serial numbers. The F-4 that is in the NMUSAF is the real deal. That is the actual F-4 that he flew. At least one of them. This is the real Scat F-4. He flew a few F-4's, but only one scat F-4. Most of the museum's aircraft are painted in their actual colors. But there are always a few exceptions.
