Re: B11E369 Dassault Mirage IIIS SAF

Great pictures as usual, mhackl. Particularly like the one over the Swiss Alps, even with the gear down (I know, no choice with FM/Armour).

Too bad that on this model the shape of the spine and canopy are incorrect (plus specifically for the Swiss model there should not be a doppler fairing under the nose). Otherwise it looks good. But the above discrepancy is enough for me to avoid this model (and I happen to be one who has a lot of FM/CDC Armour models in my collection).

If they do a two-seater later on (for which the shape of the spine seems more appropriate), then I might reconsider.

That FM can do much better is demonstrated by your pictures of the He-111. That one looks great, and I may have to break down and get it even though I'm running out of space right now...

Nice pictures Mark. It looks a lot nicer in your photos than the catalog picture. Still like the French scheme better. Is the nose gear twisted a little or does it move? I noticed they have the optional canopy position on the Mirage.

The gear is twisted, but it doesn't swivel as might be expected. The functioning canopy was a bit of a shocker to me when I first pulled it out of the box. I cannot say enough about the paint finish on this model, it really is striking. Franklin may not be where everyone would like them to be yet, but it is obvious that they are making strides.

Right with you FVD. Great pictures, and the model looks very good, but to get the profile that wrong is criminal. I don't do 1/48s but for a Mirage III, I'd have broken my own rules! Big disappointment. Don't know whether I'd go for a two seater but it probably will look much better. Surely single seaters are the way to go with the Mirage IIIs unlike the later Mirage 2000s.

Does FM provide a plug for that ugly exposed hole behind the front wheel well?
