Lockheed Martin F/A-22A Raptor Block 1
The first EMD (Engineering and Manufacturing Development) prototype, F-22A 'Raptor 01' 91-4001 Edwards, AFB September 1997
11.25" (28.6 cm) wingspan

A 1/48th Scale Diecast model from the Collection Armour series by The Franklin Mint

The first of the Air Force's next-generation of air superiority fighter jets, this aircraft flew its 100th mission at Edwards AFB, with Boeing test pilot Chuck Killberg at the controls. The F/A-22 is undergoing the most extensive and sophisticated testing of any combat aircraft ever developed, giving the Air Force and its industry partners adequate time to properly design, build and test the Raptor before being put into production.

Here's a scale comparison to a couple models I had handy.

Not a bad looking Raptor for it's scale. Thanks again for the pictures, mhackl. Much appreciated.

Not bad, but I'd rather have one in 1:72 I think -- and what do the "reserved" posts refer to Mark? (I told y'all I was drinking decaf today... going back to half octane tomorrow )

I've reserved these post spots so that when I finish processing my photos I can place all of the photos above the responses, thus keeping the pictures together.

Re: B11E366 Lockheed Martin F/A-22A Raptor

Looks pretty good overall, but I'll wait for them to come out with one that does not have the test pitot boom on the nose, and does not have those silly bombs on the wings (they look like GBU-31 JDAMs to me, but not even accurate at that). Also, hopefully it would have FF, AK, or TY tail codes as on operational aircraft (Langley/1FW, Elmendorf/3FW or Tyndall 325 FW). Finally, it shoud have the current paint scheme on it, which is darker and "shinier" than the one shown here (which is correct for the test birds), and they should try to get the canopy tint (gold) right also. At that point, we have a deal...

I know 'beauty is as beauty does' and all, but man, the Raptor is just hideous looking, isn't it?....as ungainly looking as the F-117 was (is), at least it was a fascinating sight to behold, but.......yeccccch.. It'll sure be a sad day when the last F-15 touches down at AMARC.
