Re: Showtime 100

Showtime is here! Boy were you right Pappy. What a nice plane. There was a little gloss black overspray around the port side of the radome but it was easily removed by taping it off with that nice blue tape and a little acetone on a q-tip. You were right about the pad printing too. No decals here and everything is straight and true. No wonky landing gear! I read that HM is making one too now but I can't imagine letting this go. It's not even as big as I thought. Fits on the shelf just fine really. Very pleased and as you say, highly recommended!

Re: Showtime 100

Cool -- glad you like it Parsig! I was thinking the same thing today with the HM news... but there's just something about FM Phantoms I like, so I don't think I'll be getting rid of mine either. I think I just like the raw heft factor for what was a beast of an airplane, and the scale... Now, if we could get one in 1:48 with the same detail as 1:72, with high metal content, then I might consider it! (but imagine the cost!)

Unhappy Re: Showtime 100

Sounds about right.

Seeing as she's often quoted as being THE most famous F.4 of all-time, I'm

suprised than certain rich individuals or organisations, HAVEN'T yet attempted

to raise the wreck of "Showtime 100" - seeing as how she supposedly resides

in (fairly) shallow water, off the coast, in the Gulf of Tonkin (even if there

probably ain't a lot left of her).

Hornchurch - There would be no point, unless you'd wanna rebuild her and use only her data plate as a starting place... - she lost her complete tail section - horizontals and everything in the fire - it burned off. Then, you've got warm salt water corrosion to deal with - there's no way this could be done at a cost of less than several million-plus... - It'd be far cheaper to simply repaint another F-4 in her colors and markings - assuming you'd want a plane in flying condition... - JY

Cool Re: Showtime 100

Neat lookin' bird, for sure. One of my first kerosene burners was the FM 174, "Wild Weasel." Unfortunately, like its other FM mates, it resides in its box in the basement due to space limitations. Maybe it's time I set up a 1:48 model of the month and display them one at a time.

Re: Showtime 100

One question I had is:

What's with the names on the plane? I.M. Fearless I get (as a sorta joke) but what is the other one supposed to mean?

Re: Showtime 100

I am of the same thought. I'm skipping HM's 1/72nd version as I don't want to have a redundant scheme in my collection. However, I will probably get Steve Ritchie's mount since I don't have one yet. Robin Olds F-4 is another outstanding issue from FM/Armour as well!

I stick to 1/48 scale anyway. Amongst others I have Richard Coe's and Robin Olds's F-4s. Both are outstanding!

Re: Showtime 100

I love my Showtime 100 made by FM she is perfect...I'm lucky to have the other Ace Phantoms as well ... Olds , Coe and Ritchie all are outstanding
and above all none of them have any decals on them all are printed tampos....Which is the way i like it...Truth be told i had at least 3 Coe Phantoms at one time because i wanted to
get the one with no decals the last one was perfect all printed tampos even the shark mouth...Got rid of the other two.

Wow, don't think I've seen one where the shark mouths are tampo -- strange how there's no way to tell what you'll be getting it seems...
