Thumbs up Cf-105 Avro Arrow

It seems that the Franklin Mint produces some of the finest RCAF/CAf
diecast aircraft around . There fore in my honest opinion I think they should
be the first to make a 1/48 scale Ltd Edition of the CF-105 AVRO ARROW.This
aircraft was and still is a very big part of Canadian aviation history and will be
a sell out very fast .The one copy to be considered should be RL203 in it's white/orange test colours .

As much as I'd like to see a die-cast Avro Arrow, I'd prefer it wasn't done by Franklin Mint. I recently purchased my first FM effort, the "Millenium" CF-18, and it wasn't my cup of tea. 1/48 scale isn't my thing, and I should have known that going in. If anyone's interested in it send me a PM.

The Arrow would be a tricky one, considering there was only 5 completed airframes ever constructed. That certainly limits the amount of releases from what would no doubt be a very expensive mold. Much like the original Arrow, costs and lack of sales to other countries would be the model Arrow's downfall. The TSR2 is another one that is in this same sort of category.

Its a difficult task to figure out what will or wont sell. it seems IXO has a sellout with the Salamander. Now who would have thought that would happen. A tiny obscure aircraft like that. It just shows that even a less well supported maker can sell out if the right model is chosen. I am surprised the Salamander sold so well, how many people apart from us aviation buffs know of it.

I think there is a huge market for models such as the Do217 and Do17. Those would be a sell out. (hint hint).

TSR2, Arrow, maybe they would sell well but if it was my money being spent on tooling then i would err on the side of caution, Another Mustang anyone??

It wouldnt surprise me if IXO went and made a Horten now!!

God Bless America.

Thumbs up Re: Cf-105 Avro Arrow

I'd definitely get one of these in 1:48 scale by FM.

Re: Cf-105 Avro Arrow

I'd go for an Arrow but only in 1/72. Maybe they could bump up sales and justify the tooling costs by doing all 5 that were flown - RL201 through RL205, say 1000 of each. The serious collectors and Arrow fans would buy all 5!
