Your FM/A collections - Which one's you own?

Last edited by flyXwire : 10-23-2007 at 04:55 PM.
Given that majority of FM/A's moulds are 'hit or miss' in the accuracy department, there are at least some models that
are reasonably 'could be' considered a decent representation of a favorite aircraft - jet or prop, and gets a deserved place among
your collection if you're collecting preference falls into 1/48th scale. A curious question. Which of the Franklin/CDC Armour moulds
do you have in your collection.

I have the following and these are not necesarily in any particular order of preference.

- P-38 California Cutie
- SBD Dauntless (Marine Pre-War paint livery)
- F-86 Beautious Butch
- F-4 Phantom ( Driscoll/Cunningham "Showtime 100")
- F-4 "MiG Killer" (Col.Olds)
- F-18 Blue Angel
- F-16 Thunderbirds
- Mig 17 (Col.Tomb)
- Mig 29
- F4F-4 Wildcat
- Rufe floatplane

Re: Your FM/A collections - Which one's you own?

I have the Doolittle Raider B-25 Ruptured Duck..It's not too bad except the main struts are backwards and they're too tall (either that or the nose strut is too short) giving it a "butt-high" stance....It's okay, but I certainly wouldn't pay nearly what FM is asking for these things...They certainly seem to have an over-inflated opinion of what their stuff is worth.......(IMHO of course!)

Re: Your FM/A collections - Which one's you own?

Where on EARTH do you store all THAT gear ????????

In the hangar with your T.6 ??????

Or do you guys live on yer own, in a 14 bedroom house ???????

I AM (of course) presuming these are all 1/48th scale ?

My 2 x F.M. B.25's (RAF, of course) take up the base of my wardrobe (when not on display) & my Ju.52 takes up a stupid amount in another room.

Wifey-dear, relegated my C.47 (9th A.F. "Honey Bun III") out to the conservatory (goodness knows just how damp that poor thing is ????).

My 2 x F.4's "Sundowners" & Red Devil's VMF. (Marine) are in the footwell of my old V.6 Granada Scorpio, in the folks double garage !!!!

& that's without mentioning my 2 x SBD's, 2 x F.4-U's, P.40 Kittyhawk, F.86 etc, etc.

Re: Your FM/A collections - Which one's you own?

They are all 1/48th except the one Shoo Shoo Baby b-17 which is 1/96th. If you want to know where I store them all, look under the collections thread, and look for my gameroom. I have a very understanding wife.

Hornchurch,

I own Franklin Mint's 1/48 scale Emily. Correction, upon closer examination it's a Mavis.

This model was released to the Pan American market only. It sinks in the water, though.

Re: Your FM/A collections - Which one's you own?

First, all my FM/Armour planes have very nice paint work and many have amazing prop detail. They make the collection interesting especially to guests.

P-51 Old Crow (Armour) I like the armament and it's Bud's. No decals either
SBD Dauntless Leppla Liska. Very nice. Metal prop too.
P-38 D-day w' shark mouth. Better than Corgi and a ton of metal. Pd. $90+

Hellcat Red Shirley A nice big Hellcat and impressive on display
Stuka Tank Buster. Maybe my favorite FM. Now they're giving them away.

Spitfire Duperier w' stripes on cowl. My 1st DD Spit and very good model.
B-25 Hell's Bells. Better on display than Bats but the height and lack on detail detract. Novices see it as my most impressive I think.

Me-109s Swiss, early Hartmann, Galland, Ehrler (cow print my wife calls it). They're just ok and if I could get dime one they'd be gone. Had the Graf once for a day and would own another.

Hurricane- RR Stanford Tuck. Love the lore of it and the paint job is great. Missing the Burma flag though and that tick me off.

Always wanted
: Bavarian F-104 98231, Novotny Focke Wulf 190 98044 Maybe someday...

Leigh-Mallory and his big wings! Might as well stay on the ground for all the use they are!

Well, according to your icon you look just like Alan Alda so there's mileage in that.
