New USMC VMF-214 Black Sheep 576 Olander

This is the best Corsair that FM has made so far IMHO.
This is the first Corsair i have seen that has no decals on it.
It's all pad printed.
Only minor thing is there is no "Marines Dream" on this one and i'm not really sure if it's supposed to have it..But the Cert say's Marine Dream...Sorry Mustangdriver it's not on the plane.

Now next to Pappy Boyington's Corsair in my curio.

That sucks. There are photos of the real 576, and it did carry the nose art. I have a decal I can add.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Where did you get a decal of that?
Besides the only pics i have seen with Marine Dream is the old Birdcage Corsair with just the star and no bars on it.
I can't find a picture of this F4U-1A bubble canopy with a Marines Dream on it.

I have a few of these comming in for the shop along with some of the new Ritchie F-4's.
As far as FM Corsairs go, I agree this one looks real good, I may have to make room in the hanger for one.

It certainly would have been cool if it had the nose art, but I'm going to collect all of Armour Legends series anyway. I just dig the uber limited stuff.

If you look at the numbers it appears to be a different plane or a different point in time. Is it wrong or just different?

576 Was a bird cage Corsair. FMput those markings on a later model mold. Which is O.K., but that is why the confusion. The BB! one marked with the 19 on it, is actally a model of the warbird that flies today with Marines Dream nose art, and a different number on the side. I got the decals form Squadron. I am going to throuw on on there, and dproblem solved!

Yes Ara...It's the Patty Ann of the "Bluenose Bastards of Bodney"
I have all the EI Mustangs...They are the best of the best in 1:48 IMHO.

That's correct it's only a showbird.
That 19 plane really should not have the "Marines Dream" logo on it.
Because it does confuse some people.
I like the looks of the nose art ....To bad the number wasn't 576 .
I thought i read somewhere that the number 19 on that Corsair was a tribute to Lt.Col. Ken Walsh USMC who flew the Corsairs.
Also i believe it has Walsh name next to the canopy.
I know Walsh flew #13 on his plane so i still don't get it with the 19.
I just wished the FM was just a little weatherized on my 576.

Now that is an awesome model! FM's version is... well... um... a....

Wasn't it Skunky who said "a picture is worth a thousand words" when someone posted contrasting pics showing a Corgi Mustang and a Dragon Mustang side by side?

If the shoe fits...
