Guys i need your opinion on a Franklin Mint F-16 USAF Thunderbird in 1:48 scale.
Are the stripes and all the logos tampo padded or are they decals?
Any info will be great.

Sorry bud, I don't have one.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: F-16 Usaf Thunderbird 1:48

I don't have one either. I stopped by the hobby shop on the way home to see if they had one I could check for you, but they didn't. I asked the Hobby shop guy if he knew and he didn't. Not that this means anything, I have the FM Blue Angels F-18 and the stripes by the canopy are definitely decals. You might want to check the UK forum and see if any of those guys have one that they could check for you.

I have seen pics of them, and thought that they looked pretty good.

Re: F-16 Usaf Thunderbird 1:48

I think it also depend on what generation it is.

If it is an old CDC/Armour version, I believe they all have decals. I don't think the tampo printing occurred until FM took over.

Looking at the photos at the Mule, the stripes do look like tampo .

Re: F-16 Usaf Thunderbird 1:48

Welli just placed a order for one at Perry's since he was the only one who had one in stock.
I was told FM was not going to be putting any more F-16 Thunderbirds out till spring 2007.
It was hard finding one of these too.
Thanks guys for trying to help out.

The generation makes a big difference -- all new FM stuff I have has pretty much all-tampo graphics. (some, the stuff that came out for the first 6 months to a year after FM acquired the brand, has a mixture)

Old CDC stuff has a mixture of both tampo and "sticker" decals

Very early CDC WWII fighters I have are all tampo

The larger models -- 1:48 phantom and B-25 I have that are early CDC have both tampo and stickers...

... just to make things confusing!
