Re: F-16 Usaf Thunderbird 1:48

The generation makes a big difference -- all new FM stuff I have has pretty much all-tampo graphics. (some, the stuff that came out for the first 6 months to a year after FM acquired the brand, has a mixture)

Old CDC stuff has a mixture of both tampo and "sticker" decals

Sorry JP for the late response, yes I do have the 1/48 Armour CDC F-16 T-Bird, and I will attest that my pre-FM T-Bird does indeed uses a mixture of "sticker" decals and tampo graphics but very cleanly applied. Still, one of the best liveries in the 1/48 line, imho!

Re: F-16 Usaf Thunderbird 1:48

I got mine tonight and it was really nice looking .
Only decals on the whole jet was the little world flags it has on the side of it.
The rest seems to be pad printed...Which is the way i like it.
Thanks for all your help too.

Sounds great. Glad they're trying to pad print just about everything now.

Congrats, JP. Now, you have to get the Blue Angel F-18!

Re: F-16 Usaf Thunderbird 1:48

Congrats, JP. Now, you have to get the Blue Angel F-18!

I did get one and i don't like it There is only one decal on there and it's the top Yellow back.
Around the canopy the decals are always chipping off.
In a years time more keeps coming off too.
So what did i do... i took the decal off and i'll airbrush the Yellow back part during the summer when the weather is warmer.
It looks good right now the way it is but it still needs the yellow back on it.

Sorry to hear that. You must've gotten a bad copy. Mine still looks in tip-top shape - none of the said problems even after all 7 + years in my collection.

Re: F-16 Usaf Thunderbird 1:48

It's too bad they molded the cannons on the nose..Blue Angels Hornets don't have 'em...(of course, they don't have Sidewinders on the wings either, but that's an easy fix.)...

Re: F-16 Usaf Thunderbird 1:48

I doubt you'll ever find a "accurate" diecast Blue Angels F-18A---there's more changes than the gun port, many of them even more subtle. Same for a T-birds F-16. Nobody will notice 99% of them, so it's pretty pointless to change the mold. Though why we don't have a ton of companies doing them in 1/72 I'll never know---it's such an obvious choice and would sell well to EVERYBODY.
