Franklin Mint B-26 Flak-bait 1:48

I got around to opening my FM B-26 Flak-Bait and she is a really nice bomber made by franklin mint.
So i snaped a few pictures of her for those who have not seen her yet.
I will put this B-26 right up with the F-4,A-10 and F4U Corsair as the best ones that Franklin Mint has made.
Not too sure way the top left star & Bar logo has no white on the bar.
Unless the real Flak-Bait was like that.
I notice the rudder area is a little lighter color then the rest of the plane remember it was fabric cover on them and the paint faded alot faster on the fabric. One of the most commonly-asked questions is the difference between the Martin B-26 Marauder and the Douglas B-26 Invader. They were two completely different aircraft and had been designed to completely different requirements. The Douglas B-26 Invader had been originally been designated A-26, and was a twin-engined attack bomber intended as a successor to the Douglas A-20 Havoc. In 1948, the newly-independent Air Force decided to eliminate the A-for-Attack series letter as a separate designation, and the A-26 Invader was redesignated B-26, in the bomber series. There was no danger of confusion with the Martin B-26 Marauder, since this aircraft was by that time no longer in service with the US Air Force.
If you don't have this B-26 your missing out on a great heavy duty diecast.
Enjoy the pics.

Good job bud. This is the B-26 that is in my collection as well. The National insignia is right. The real Flackbait's was like that. I am not sure what the story is behind that is, but it is right. I also like the fact that they lightened up the fabric areas.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Another entry in my diecast pilot's log.

Very nice, indeed!
I have this model but haven't had out of the box since I got it. Your picture inspired me to get it out and fly it around the room. Needless to say the mission was a success and we returned to base safely.

You know i'm really surprised at the weight of this B-26 it's very solid and well built for a 1/48 diecast.
To date this is the heavest one in my collection.
I like her so much i'm going to put this Flak-Bait on the bottom shelf of my curio.... along with my other 1/48 planes.
This is a must have plane for your 1/48 diecast collection..

That's a sweet looking bomber in a big scale, jp! Clearly FM/Arm had some really good molds established on their diecast line and the B-26 is one of them. I must admit I almost grabbed one.

Re: Another entry in my diecast pilot's log.

I have this model but haven't had out of the box since I got it.

...I honestly don't know how you can do that. I'm pretty certain the smallest unit of time would be measured as the interval between the moment I pick the box up off my doorstep, and have the offending diecast in my hot little paws....and it never, never sees the inside of a box again.

I received my "Flak Bait" last Thursday and think it looks great. I'll be putting it on display in June when I get it for my birthday.
