Re: B11E069 - Nakajima A6M2-N "Rufe" Floatplane

As with many diecast models it is unlikely anyone else will do this in 1/48 so if you really want one you have to decide to overlook the flaws.

You're absolutely right of course, 1250ships. I must apply the same kind of reasoning as I have done recently on my current buying spree of those IXO models.

FOV's excellent mould of their A6M2 Zero would be the ticket and perhaps FOV will give us some salvation. Here's hoping...

Cool Re: B11E069 - Nakajima A6M2-N "Rufe" Floatplane

I would say it globally looks the part, and you are right, it is such a different and gorgeous plane, that it is worth having.

My reason for disappointement, is that the conversion from the A6M2 mould looks so crude. The subject (and costumer !) would have deserved more care.

But, it is a FM, so...!

What I am waiting for now, is a 1/72 (Witty ?) or 1/48 (Marushin) A6M2-N...

Re: B11E069 - Nakajima A6M2-N "Rufe" Floatplane

Excellent subject, looks good from above, but...

It is based on the A6M mould. So, many disgraceful gaps underside, resulting from the removal (and poor sealing) of the arrester hook and ldg gear.

The scoop between the rear of the engine's cowling, and the top of the main float's pylon is missing.

I pulled a few pics today out of my reference pile.. Rufes didn't have the underside scoop, and most of the "gaps" evident on the FM Rufe are also evident on the real thing, including the landing gear covers.. (by gaps, I mean replacement covers and at joint lines)..

Cool Re: B11E069 - Nakajima A6M2-N "Rufe" Floatplane

I've got to admit that from the first time I saw this model I desired it. Haven't bought it because I don't do 1/48s but it has always been very tempting. Thanks for bringing it up again and for the insightful comments. Appreciated guys.
