It's very nice and really presents well. I may have to re-spray paint the camo to make it look more like the photo pictured in "...And KILL MIGS" and KoKu Fan mag issue. Even the one displayed at the San Diego Aerospace doesn't look right in my eyes.....

Re: Franklin's new products for 2007

The FM Wildcat looks nice, but Franklin Mint needs to be real careful putting January - May 1942 markings on a plane the Navy took delivery on in April of '42.

The -4 is most commonly seen without the red center of the star. This look is decidely F4F-3.

But I'll take it.

The team that chooses markings at the Franklin Mint need to devote more time to insignia research. A few of their gorgeous Ju 52 models have fallen victim to marking errors, and at least one of their He 111's had the same problem.

And that cost them at least one sale; I would have bought their Sept 1940 version He 111 if they had not goofed their "three bar" scheme: those bars belong on the starboard (pilot's right) wing only. FM places these bars on both wings.

I think the camo should be a darker shade of green than what is on the model, but I like the model.

How did you fix the plane's tendancy to sit with the nose up? Or does your not do that?

Yes it is 'darker' shade of green, and the pattern is more broken up....by this I mean the paint pattern does look pretty and organized but not so on the actual documented photo. Do you follow what I mean?

Yes it does. The way I've dealt with this in the past is basically put a plastic sprue piece as a means to prop the heavy tail. Crude but effective.

I thought about cracking open the fuselage and adding a small lead weight to the nose, but couldn't pull the trigger on the cracking it open part.

Anyone tried this?

Re: Franklin's new products for 2007

I understand that this is a concept composite, but it looks like Franklin actually included some rivet detail.

Yeah... much more that Carousel 1's Wildcat. Does this suggest FM's new molds will have greater detail than in the past? My fingers are crossed.

Mark... OMI's web-site indicates that the P-51D "Big Dick" is a new tooling. While the Berlin Express looks new (and exciting... fingers crossed!!), Big Dick does not. Can you confirm that FM is indeed coming out with a new tooled P-51D?

No I can't. It says new tooling in the catalog, but the image doesn't support the claim. I think that it's likely a typo. "Berlin Express" certainly is.

Thanks Mark. Will you post one of your awesome pics of Berlin Express? Also, the Mirage, and the F-22?
