Re: Franklin's new products for 2007

Hi PappyB,
I might be mistaken, but I think the Mig-17 was re-instated after it was temporarily discontinued to re-tool. Mark probably knows more about this.

Thanks,
aeroeng

Do you know specifically what was modified as a result of the re-tool? Did they correct the problem with the tail dragging?

Pretty cool looking actually.

I understand that this is a concept composite, but it looks like Franklin actually included some rivet detail.

This is all I know. I got this from OMI site. I was thinking about buying one recently and I noticed they had been removed from a lot of sites. When I started digging around I found this. I thought it was kind of weird that they'd quit selling them because at the time this was the only Mig-17 they offered. Mark might be able to answer your specifics on what was re-tooled.

Thanks again Mark for the great photos. Your pictures really help me decide on a lot of purchases.

B11E201 is still available and has not been retooled. There had been some speculation if Franklin had dropped this model due to the lack of follow-up releases. This was proven not to be the case with the announcement in 2007 of B11E392.

The new release of the Mig-17 is the PM version with a modified intake and missles. I'll do that one next so you can take a look at it.

Cool Re: Franklin's new products for 2007

Mark, that's not a bad looking Mig 17 - I love that particular variant as well. I actually bought the Col. Tomb Mig 17 to go up against my Cunningham/Driscoll F-4 "Showtime 100" Phantom.
