Re: Franklin's new products for 2007

Well once the new building is up, they will be spruced up, and put in the new presidential hangar which will be with the rest of the collection. The R/D aircraft will come over as well. Along with a bunch of space artifacts, and the restof the aircraft outside. In the hangars that are now the Presidential and R/D, the XC-99 will be restored.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Franklin's new products for 2007

I dont want to get shot down about this but can I say that I looked at FM years ago and walked away from them . They just looked like toys. Just how good are they today?? Have they improved since then and should I look at them again? My problem is that there are no stores around my area so I cannot look before I buy. Thats why I appreciate all the good advice from you chaps at the Hanger.

Jim... I occassionally inspect some at my local hobby store. I can't say I have looked at every model, but I have not found one that is up to detail standards of Eagles, Carousel, Hobbymaster, Gemini, Dragon, and a few others. I also walked away from them about five - six years ago; with what I have seen lately, I am still walking.

I still collect them. Granted they don't meet today's diecast standards but I still think that they are pretty cool models.

Re: Franklin's new products for 2007

If you are still collecting, or thinking about adding one or two to your hangar, now's the time to buy -- the prices appearing online are scary indeed. I might pick up a few old stock models while things are reasonable, the new stuff -- even Ritchie's upcoming camo Phantom, I will likely say no to (passing on the F4 will be a test -- I like FM's Phantoms, P-38s, P-47s, SBDs, Stukas, Hellcat, and 262s).

An aside: I saw on Onmark that Col Tomb's MiG is being "Re-instated", too, if they keep up that trend, where's the collectibility? Though, I suppose, if MJ can retire, and un-retire, like 4 times vendors should be able to do the same with molds?

Re: Franklin's new products for 2007

Hi PappyB,
I might be mistaken, but I think the Mig-17 was re-instated after it was temporarily discontinued to re-tool. Mark probably knows more about this.

Thanks,
aeroeng

Re: Franklin's new products for 2007

I am getting ready to pre-order 909. I helped with it's restoration, so this is a must for me.
