Re: Franklin's new products for 2007

Love the hot-pink canopy frame.....

Somebody needs to let FM know that there's some serious players vying for our diecast dollars (and pounds and whatever) out there. I only have 3 FM models (F/A-18, B-25 and F-4U) and I don't think any of them were really entirely worth it at the old pricing, let alone the new...

So long, Franklin Mint...I barely knew ye.....(and now I'll know ye even less)

Re: Franklin's new products for 2007

If this pricing change takes effect this will be the final nail in the confirm for FM as far as I’m concerned. Even though these guys are geniuses when it comes to picking paint schemes I don’t buy them anymore because they never get the plane molds right.

Let me get this straight you plan to release a "Streak Eagle" perhaps the most strip down F-15 in history & you put AIM-7 Sparrows & a centerline fuel tank on it; what the H*LL ARE YOU THINKING. FM added extra parts which were not needed; meaning they went out of their way to mess this plane up.

I'm not going to mention the full list of things wrong with this plane because the list would be to long and most people take for granted that their will be mistakes with FM planes.

Very true. She was the hot rod. Never carried weapons.

Re: Franklin's new products for 2007

Ok I am I wrong that the F-22's do not have missles on thier wings ? All weapons are hidden in the fuselage. I hope that is not the case when it comes out. And these prices are suicide for FM. Why spend that much on a plane when all others are much cheaper. Especially with no new exciting molds. Come on FM what are you doing???

I think that all weapons on the aircraft are kept internally.

The colors in that image are incorrect. This is one thing that my FM rep and I talked about. This is why the disclaimer was added to indicate the difference between prototype and production units.

Re: Franklin's new products for 2007

I dont want to get shot down about this but can I say that I looked at FM years ago and walked away from them . They just looked like toys. Just how good are they today?? Have they improved since then and should I look at them again? My problem is that there are no stores around my area so I cannot look before I buy. Thats why I appreciate all the good advice from you chaps at the Hanger.

Jim,
I only have 4 FM's..A-10,F-4,F4U and the P-51D and i will tell you that the A-10,F-4 and F-4U are the best ones i have.
I notice today that some of the prices have already gone up on the Franklin Mints at some online retailers.

Re: Franklin's new products for 2007

MD:

Has anything been done to spruce up the Presidential/R&D hangar? Last time I was in Dayton, the collection of AF Ones appeared to be left moldering in the hangar. Any efforts been/being made to restore them (as opposed to merely preserving them)?

The Presidential collection was the real jewel in the rough of the AF Museum, IMHO.
