Re: Franklin's new products for 2007

They certainly look pretty grim compared to Century's 'Cats.....and for a lot more bread.... I guess you're just payin' for the extra metal since they're 1/48th...

FM's gonna crash and burn and they'll have no one to blame but themselves..

Actually, I got my FM Tom's for $40 -- less than the Century birds... and lots more metal. I like 'em, but I'm not all that discriminating I guess when it comes to the jets, just don't know enough about the rivets to count 'em... I've got the Jolly Rogers and since it has swept wings and the CW 'cat I ordered is in the launch config, there's room for both in the hangar

If they hold to those prices, I do agree with the crash and burn...

Sadly Skunky, your words may indeed be prophetic ... perhaps your soothsayer potential has been underestimated and undervalued (until now that is)

Thanks, Cardo...but I must point out that that's not how ya spell "pathetic"..

In April 1974, the Air Force ordered the modification of the 17th F-15A built to the "Streak Eagle" configuration, stripping the aircraft of nonessentials, even most of the paint, to set a string of flight records in 1974 and 1975. The Streak Eagle weighed 815 kilograms (1,800 pounds) less than a production F-15A and flew with no more fuel than was safely required to perform a particular flight exercise.

The Streak Eagle effort cost the US taxpayer over $2 million USD, but the Air Force regarded it as money well spent to promote the F-15 program; determine what the machine was really capable of; sell the type to pilots on the front line; and intimidate the Soviets. The Soviets had already been intimidated by the FX program, and as the Streak Eagle broke records held by the Soviet MiG-25 Foxbat, saw their worst fears coming true. The USSR pushed on to develop their answer to the F-15, the Sukhoi Su-27 "Flanker", and a specially modified Su-27 would eventually take most of the records away from the Streak Eagle.

She is on display at the NMUSAF. Very cool aircraft.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

It's unfortunate that they couldn't have kept the bare metal finish. They should've shot it with a coat of clear.

Thumbs down Re: Franklin's new products for 2007

The issue with these is going to be the new pricing, My dealer sends out an email every 60 days and they are Droping FM like a rock. The info I got says the pricing is going up and no dealers are allowed to sell them for less even on Ebay. If they do they get dropped as a dealer. No discounts, and the new prices are something like $85.00 for P-51 and the like and $105.00 for B-25 and the like.

Stupid FM and there new loser owner.

Sounds like they're returning to their prices of old, just like Corgi. Is this a trend that will eventually effect all of the manufacturers?

Re: Franklin's new products for 2007

I think there are plans to return her to this look. She was painted for her time of aout door storage. She is indoors now. Kind to think of it, there is not much left out doors. This time next year there will be nothing left outside of the museum. A huge goal.
