I've lots more but they're not digital shots! At the entrance to the museum, there's a replica of Charles Lindbergh "Spirit of St.Louis", many amazing displays and paraphenalias from the Wright Brothers up to the Space Age from start to finish which could occupy the rest of your day trip over there! It's like a mini Smithsonian, imho! There are other museums and venues for other interest at the Balboa Park in San Diego. You should check it out when you get the chance?

Re: F-4 Phantom "showtime 100"

I think i might do that.
This is one of my favorites looks like a dog fight with the mig.
I really like the Red Baron Fokker Dr.1 that is there also that is what started me making the old revell 1/28 kit they used to make.
It is a place for all ages to learn about aviation.
Great place to vist.

Re: F-4 Phantom "showtime 100"

That real airplane is the mount of Robin Olds, and is on display in teh Air Force Museum. Everyonce in a while he still comes to sit in it.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: F-4 Phantom "showtime 100"

Yeah, I haven't seem him in a little while, like a year I guess. But he is about due. He will call and ask Gen. Metclafe (my boss at the museum) if it is O.K. to come down with some family and sit in it. We do it because the aircraf tin the museum are monuments to the men who flew them and worked with them. It is pretty cool because on some of the A/C we are allowed to go with them. I have been in the B-36, B-29, B-17, PBY, and the C-121 and C-123. I also sat in the Hurricane. We only open the cockpits for very special guest like the crew members of the actual plane in the collection.
