FOV new stuff

I've got one, Jetlover. They have been available here in Scotland for about 3 to 4 weeks.

You'll love it. I'm not an expert on Soviet hardware, so I can't give you an opinion on it in terms of accuracy.

However, as a 1.72 model it's helluva impressive. The detail on the cast turret is great. It looks and feels like a heavywieght. The paint job is pretty basic, just as you'd expect from a tank rushed to the front. The identification bands mark this one out as on its way to Berlin, late in the war. The white cross on the turret top, the white band round the turret and the white line which continues across the rear hull top, all seem authentically rough in appearance. The turret and hull have both had a kind of dry-brush attack and so areas of metal show through, welded joints seem burnished and the wheels are dusted with brown earth.

What I can't understand is why they didn't put a little weathering on the hull underside and a little more on top to fit in with the obvious intention of the rest!

You'll be delighted with it whenit comes your way. For the price ( £8.99 in the U.K. ) it seems a bargain.

The U.K. M3 Grant is a little cracker! Highly recommended.

The Soviet SU 122 S.P. is a delight. You'll love it too.The winter camo is a work of art. Everyone will want some. Even the side rails are modelled independantly and the commander figure looks as if he is doing something behind the turret top hatch/shield with a hand resting on the top of the hatch and one hand on the side of the opening. The only problem with this scenario is that it is a winter campaign in Russia and it should be 20 degrees below! Mits would have been more accurate. Still, you can always touch the hands up with a little enamel and render them into gloves! This S.P. looks the business and should prove to be popular.

FOV, in this scale, are looking good and hard. Dragon, even with their reputation for accuracy, will have a real competitor now that FOV have grown up and moved on from the toy appearance of their first efforts.
FOV's best model is still, in my opinion, the 251 Hanomag, Stuka zu Fuss. It's hard to beat!

cheers, Tovarich ( sic )

Re: FOV new stuff

The above new thread was supposed to be by way of a reply from Jetlover for information on one of the new FOV issues, the T34/85.

When I tried to post it, I was asked to log in ( I had done this already!)

Result....problems. Take heed, when you are posting, copy your post before submitting it. That way when you've had to log in again, you'll have saved text which you can resubmit!

This time I couldn't find Jetlover's thread ( which is why we are here )

Happy Hunting,

MoMo

Fov M113

Just received this little model - and very nice it is too!
Tracks turn, but the 0.50 calibre turret is set in place. Good detailing all round, particularly of the commander/gunner and the (optional) side-mounted gear and packs. At first I thought it was too small, but a careful comparison with the measurements (and 1/72 versions) of the M2 and the Hummer showed it is in fact to scale - it's just that the Hummer and Bradley are so large!
Now I'm looking for the FoV soldier pack of modern US troops to go with it...and maybe I can spray some red paint on Preiser's civilian figures to show their body-count! ( )

Re: FOV new stuff

Hey folks,
I'm not sure if I got lucky or what, but I found a bunch of the FOV 1:72 armor this last weekend at my local Target. I landed 4 of the new models, the T-34/85, SU-122, U.S. Halftrack and the Bradley. No sign of the Grant or German Halftrack with rockets as of yet.

The four pieces that I picked up are great. You can't go wrong at $8.00 a pop. It's nice to finally have something to face off all my German armor with.

That is great news, thanks! Will head over to one of the local Targets near my home to get more. $8 is a great price for these.

Re: FOV new stuff

I went to three different Targets in my area and only found the old stuff. Though it was interesting to see that they had put out the Sherman with mine plough again that had caused so many problems with "Battling Bitch" on the side which they pulled from their inventory. The Sherman with mine plough now has Battling Bitch removed and you couldn't tell it was ever there.

Re: FOV new stuff

Hey folks,
I think I got lucky and the wrong box slipped into the wrong store, etc, etc.......

I'm here in the Los Angeles area and I've checked 4 other Targets since my find and seen nothing but last years models.

By the way, sorry to cause any confuson for folks outside the L.A. area. I was thinking that my state and city was listed on my profile like the old forum and of course, it's not.

If any more turn up in my area I'll let everyone know.

Re: FOV new stuff

I found the new FOVs in my local hobby store (Fremont, CA). Now they have only one T-34/85 left, since I got the other one.

By the way, they have a whole bunch of SU122s and half tracks. There is also 4 M3, but all their main cannon is drooping down...
