| Encoraged by this thread, I've been doing some searching through my books and found this very interesting comparison between early-model Tiger wheel ( on left ) and late-model ( on right ).. ![]() Note the smaller-diameter appearance of the later-type steel wheel. Now - here's the model... ![]() So - I think I may have been too hard on FOV earlier - if you compare these photos, the model actually looks pretty good for a late-model Tiger. I stil lthink that the track sags just a little too much - but it's not as bad as I first thought. Overall, it's still one heck of a model - and now, I feel even more pleased with it ! | |||||||||||||

| Re: 1/16 Wittmann road wheels !!!
Hello NL, I to have all the FOV 1/16 German tanks. The Wittmann Tigers are the best. IMHO there is noting wrong with the rear idler, and the turret roofs profile was lowered on the later model Tiger I in real life. If your on the fence about getting one don't wait, more and more people are finding out just how good this is. I'm looking foward to the FOV Sherman, information about it should be out in Jan., Feb. I'm not going to wait a minute longer when it comes out, as this very limited item will surely sell out at once. IXEC | ||||||||||||||

| In March 1944, armour thickness on Tiger turret roofs was increased to 41mm, which left 15mm sticking up above the turret sides. Here's a shot of one ( complete with real-life Normandy scenery ) which shows the effect... ![]() However, I don't think that anyone's figured out when Tiger '007' was actually built, and in the only known photo of the tank, the turret is lying upside down on the ground - so there's no way of telling....I'm very happy to give FOV the benefit of the doubt on this one ! ( Congratulations on your 1/16 FOV collection - sadly, reasons of space and money mean that 007 will be the only one I'll be getting...) | |||||||||||||
