SU-122 repainted

Below are some pictures of a 1:72 scale Forces of Valor SU-122 repainted in Russian green. The guy that did this did not remove the white paint or add any primer, he just painted right over the existing paint. A little weathering (dirt, mud) was also added to make it a bit more realistic. The tank commander has also been replaced with a metal figure.

The original Forces of Valor SU-122.

Re: SU-122 repainted

Looks nice and grubby and generally more realistic. The original white scheme looks distinctly odd with all those christmas trees painted over it - just a bit too much vodka passing round that crew I guess.

This is a real-life scheme that FoV "borrowed" from the Russian language booklet titled Soviet T-34 chassis-based SPGs of WWII:

Re: SU-122 repainted

It's also featured in "The Eastern Front" by Steven Zaloga of Osprey books fame.

Re: SU-122 repainted

Wow - nice image from the book Berkut, I think I may have to hunt that one down as I quite like the Russian armour.

Re: SU-122 repainted

This model really displays well with the Dragon T-34 Leningradets and the Dragon Jagdpanzer L01. The winter white-wash looks great on all 3.

Re: SU-122 repainted

After a bit of rummaging through my armour library I found this image of the very same tank rolling out of Leningrad direct from the Kirovsk factory. It already clearly has the camo scheme applied which we can see on the model. Click the thumbnail to enlarge........

FOV SU - 122 now available

Last edited by Canucklehead : 03-13-2007 at 10:13 PM. Reason: comparative pricing
The 1/72 FOV SU-122 is now available for $X at Bad Cat Toys. This is a cool model, one of FOV's best! The Grant is also there. Both of these and the half-track w/ rocket launchers are also at The Flying Mule ($X)
