Thumbs down Hurricane

I picked up a Hurricane (95329 Southeast Asia 1944) at a nearby Target. The price was right, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. The seams at the wing roots and on the engine cowl are ravine like-totally unacceptable. Compared to the FOV P-40, Zero and
Me-262, this issue is a flop. NOT RECOMMENDED!

The Hurricane was one of the first planes produced by FOV, and like anything else, they (FOV) have gotten better over time.. I have a couple of FOV Hurricanes, and although they aren't great, they are two unique schemes that I didn't have (nightfighter/Coastal command)..

Re: Hurricane

yeah, i have the night fighter and coastal command one which are nice.

I was trying to get the Med sea hurricane and ended up with the SE Asia model because they have the same &*^%$£$ part numbers!

And yes - it's horrible!

Re: Hurricane

Nightfighter is about the only semi-decent version........not FOV's finest hour

I have this version as well (the only FOV hurricane) I have. Like our good Admin hworth18 said in the above post or two, FOV is getting better. I have their early P-40 and Zero that came out around last Christmas. These are both good types and yes FOV is getting better!

Re: Hurricane

Yup, I also have the nightfigher. I've kept it because I can't see myself being backrupted getting the Corgi one. The other FOV I had, the Stuka, I swapped for an IXO G55. Got plenty of IXOs since.

Re: Hurricane

I agree with hworth and mike...they are definitely getting better. I only have the nightfighter version, but I look forward to what they will produce next.

Re: Hurricane

I have 3 myself (Nightfighter, white Sea Hurricane, Desert Camo) and had the luxury of cherry-picking the best from each batch. As mentioned above, FOV has gotten better over time but they're still very inconsistent with quality even with their current offerings. I gave their Zero, P-40 and Me-262 more than several 'glance-over' to make sure I got the almost perfect-free defects before buying them.
Overall, I am very happy with the 3 Hurricanes I've got.

Re: Hurricane

It's a toy - Gave one to one of the Kids (to sow the seeds). At least if they break it, it doesn't relay matter.

Was watching the Battle of Britian the other night and they actually recognized the Hurricane from the model. That's a bit of a result as I'm trying to get them interested in things Dad likes as opposed to Star Wars and Playstation. Still going down to San Diego this summer so must get them on the Midway.

Ooops!
