Re: P-40

I would think that they would make a Flying Tiger version of thissoon. I think they did a great job on it though.

Well I thank you for your support sir, and indeed I also think the same.

God Bless America.

Re: P-40

I remember that one...It was inspired by one of Dan Rather's many bizarre incidents..In this case he claimed he was accosted by some guys who attempted to kidnap him or some such thing and one of the guys kept saying "What's the frequency, Kenneth?"....but knowing Rather's reputation, I believe what the guy was actually saying was "What's this freak we see, Kenneth?" ....End of story...I'm enjoying this P-40 thread immensely and look forward with bait on my breath to seeing Trappy's customized job...

Turned out that Rather's story was probably true. His attacker was most likely Willian Tager who is now serving a 25 year sentence for the murder of an NBC stagehand. Tager was mentally disturbed and believed the media was beaming signals into his head. He apparently thought Rather worked for the CIA and his code name was Kenneth. Rather actually got off easy considering this guy killed another media person.

That's funny...I've always thought the same thing about Captain Eddie.

Re: P-40

Stay tuned Jim. I 'm just starting a P-40 customizing job with this particular model. If it goes half as well as I hope, should be a pretty addition to my collection. Planning a busy die-cast modelling weekend. Should be fun!

Back on March 4th in the Corgi "California Cutie" thread, PappyB posted a picture of an all metal Speccast P-40. I was instantly intrigued by this version of the P-40 and I really wanted one to spruce up the ole collection. Sadly, this particular plane only comes in 1:48 scale - which I don't collect. So, what's one to do, but make their own? Last weekend, the wife and I went to Target. I was able to get a $10.99 FoV P-40. Add some Testor ModelMaster Chrome paint, a steady hand (for some red & white tail stripes) and some scrounged up decals and voila! An all metal, 1:72 scale P-40. Hope you guys like it - I know I do.

Re: P-40

Looks real good, Trap. Very fine. Who knows, maybe even I could do that (mostly one color is my kind of painting).
