Re: FOV 2007 Catalog NOW W/ PICS!!

Now for under $40.00 I get a model B-25 with nicer markings - yeah! No box - landfill has lots of those already. And a model that looks like a toy. Oh yeah, $25.00 to $30.00 in my pocket instead of Corgi's. Sounds like a winning proposition to me.

I've got RAF B-25 for about $55US shipped. I've liked the livery and the tooling is top notch. Given my past experience with FoV models, both on armor and aircraft sides, they leave a lot to be desired even on the basic level. I'll be mightily surprised if FoV B-25 will be able to match Corgi tooling, but if it will, I'll have no problem adding it to my collection if the livery will appeal to me.

As for FoV lacking finesse, their new P-40 and Zero are as good as my Corgi models and they meet my needs.

Corgi's Zeroes are absolutely horrible. I'll recommend Witty or Dragon Zeroes. Furthermore, Witty are really nice and given that Zero has never been a top seller, Witty birds could be easily had for $10USD.

I have quite a few Corgi P-40s, and I'm happy with them (then again I've paid about $20USD shipped for them). I haven't seen FoV P-40 to make a fair comparison.

I respect other people's individual taste but if I put something on my shelf, it has to be nothing but the best.

I agree with this statement wholeheartedly. However, I'm not going to put exclusivity or collectibility before quality and level of detail. Each company released its fair share of excellent and crappy molds. I'm not going to stick to Corgi or anyone else if there are better alternatives available, even from the lesser makers out there.

Regards,

Sergey

[quote=HotTrap429;29042]Just checked prices at several diecast dealers. The Corgi B-25D Air Apaches model goes for between $65.95 and $79.99. What do I get for this amount? A box - whooooppppeeee! A name - double WWWHHHHOOOOPPPPEEEE, and a model that looks like a toy. Now for under $40.00 I get a model B-25 with nicer markings - yeah! No box - landfill has lots of those already. And a model that looks like a toy. Oh yeah, $25.00 to $30.00 in my pocket instead of Corgi's. Sounds like a winning proposition to me.

Seen at model shop today, Corgi B25, £80 yes £80. Too rich for me. yet another example of "rip off Britain".

Re: FOV 2007 Catalog NOW W/ PICS!!

I've been patiently waiting for someone to release a 1/72 B-26 Marauder! I like the paint scheme on this one too. This one will be a must-buy for my collection.

Re: FOV 2007 Catalog NOW W/ PICS!!

if no one else announces that they are doing a B-26 by the time the FOV B-26 model comes out then I am for sure buying one. It was a truly advanced bomber the time. Must have a B-26, plus that would put me only 7 away from having 100 1/72 WWII aircraft. In the center of my collection is a signed photo pf my friend Phil Goldstein (now Phil Graham) standing in front of his P-38 JEWBOY. the shot was taken on June 1944 in Foggia, Italy.

I ..the Marauder is a must have..

I agree having a Marauder or two in the collection is a must have. However, I'm going to remain skeptical until they are actually released. Based on the P-40 they (FOV) released recently, chances are the B-26 will be good. But, it will be FOV's first multi-engine effort, so who knows what it will be like?

What are the chances we'll see a "Flak Bait" B-26 from FOV.

Re: FOV 2007 Catalog

A B26 by FOV? Looking forward to it, wonder what it'll cost?

Probably at least HALF if not less than if ole Corgi would be charging!

I see some of the dealers are doing there pre-sales at $39.00. Will these releases be exclusively for hobby shops only, or will the be released to Target? If does get a department store release the prices should be quite lower.
