FOV P-40 Target Special

Some photos of the Target sourced P-40 from Forces of Valor. These are test shots using my other camera since my main macro camera died. I can see I have some depth of field issues to work out but they are good enough to see what she looks like.

Re: FOV P-40 Target Special

Very nice! I'm surprised that there hasn't been more buzz about this model. It looks great and includes removable panels. Is it the non-limited production that's holding it back?

I'll have to do a little Target recon tomorrow.

Re: FOV P-40 Target Special

I have it and its great. Well it would be its a P40! It raises the question why cannot Corgi put more detail into its models. Ixo apart most makers achieve better detail than Corgi. Look at Dragon as an example. If FOV can include engine detail to this standard then why cannot Corgi? We know Corgi can do it if they want, just look at the Swordfish. Come on Corgi we faithfull customers deserve better.

Yes, I been wondering this myself. I also have this P-40 and love it. Can't beat the price either! And Corgi is raising their prices for 2007???!!!

Re: FOV P-40 Target Special

Admin,
Hey there.

I think the absense of buzz with F.O.V. from the lack of "sex appeal" with their diecast. They are easy to find, inexpensive, have no aftermarket value and are not collectable. (i.e. no numbered certificate.)

The new P-40 is a huge step up for them. Unfortunately, the packaging still leaves a lot to be desired. (To get the gear and engine covers out of the box you first have to got through three screws, which hold the plane in, that seem to have been put in WAY to tight. Then you have to destroy the packaging by removing a sealed cover.)

Think you hit the nail on the head, couldn't agree more -- though I think their initial production values have hurt them too. I got the snake stuka in the first wave and was a bit... disappointed. My expectations, even at that price point courtesy of MB, were higher. I don't see myself getting any more in the future, even though they do look to be improving, as I also prefer models to have some chance of at least retaining their value, if not increasing, in the future should I want to unload them to make room for something else.

However, that said, the P-40 and 262 looked pretty nice, and I do see when people do like the line. (STrangely, I seem to prefer the mass release versions, rather than the more heavily weathered ones aimed at collectors...)

I will likely pick up a couple pieces of the 1:72 Armor, though... think some of these are really nice for $8 and can fill in holes in the collection with them.

Though who knows maybe most of these will be relegated to the kid's sandbox and 10 years from now mint versions will bring big bucks on the bay

Yep, you'd be absolutely correct, Cap...Those prop tips aren't painted yellow...It's good to see that that shoulder operation hasn't affected your eyesight none!

To me it really doesnt matter, unless you collect the boxes.

Re: FOV P-40 Target Special

I've got this plane and it's a beauty. Even started a thread about it a while back and posted pictures. I recommend buying it as it's the only diecast P-40B/C out there and it isn't a bad model.
