Re: FOV P-40 Target Special

I agree this a great looking P-40 B/C that needs more livery/scheme to be made. I guess I'll just have to wait till the next batch comes out.

Re: FOV P-40 Target Special

I recommend buying it as it's the only diecast P-40B/C out there and it isn't a bad model.

Well, in 1/72nd scale maybe...Carousel has some nice ones in 1/48th...A bit loftier price tag though.

You mean there are other scales besides 1/72nd scale? How remarkable! What will they think of next? Dancing bananas?

I stand corrected Skunky, the FoV model is the only diecast 1/72 scale model out there.

Re: FOV P-40 Target Special

Yep, you'd be absolutely correct, Cap...Those prop tips aren't painted yellow...It's good to see that that shoulder operation hasn't affected your eyesight none!

hardee har har har! Let me rephrase that. is it correct for them to NOT be painted yellow?

Re: FOV P-40 Target Special

I saw this and the 262 at the hobbytown yesterday. They really weren't bad for the money and I might have to pick up the P-40 if I can find it at Target.

Re: FOV P-40 Target Special

Hey folks,
Let me state once again that this plane is great. It just doesn't have the "collectors" appeal of other planes. I've got one sitting here next to me on my desk and it's lovely. (Plus, it's the only P-40b/c out there in this scale right now.

Re: FOV P-40 Target Special

Tyler,
Glad you are digging your bird. She is a real beauty, isn't she? I'm hoping that FOV decides to "run" with the model and give us a bunch of different liveries. I would gladly purchase 4-5 more of these birds.

Re: FOV P-40 Target Special

I just picked up the hobby shop version of this P-40 (locally) about a week ago. (Had to go with the gear up option. )

I REALLY like this model. The engine detail/removable panels is great. The parts on my model fit together well. The pilot even looks pretty good. Also, I love the paint scheme - how can you go wrong? - Pearl Harbor - heroic pilot/story - pre/early war roundrels w/ red center - "U.S. Army" on the underneath wings - low price (a lot of bang for the buck).

Also bought the Zero and expect similiar satisfaction with it (just haven't taken it out of the box, yet).

I'll hold off on making broad sweeping praises of FOV that I might regret later - HOWEVER, from what I'm seeing with these models, it seems like FOV might be the one to watch in 1:72 as they make improvements and seem to be heading into the twin engine bomber market. (If you aren't into the "collectibility" aspect of this hobby.) I'll give them praise and respect now AND look forward with positive anticipation to their next releases.

I want to see a couple FOV early P-40 Flying Tigers schemes as well as a couple British N. Africa early P-40/Tomahawk schemes. Love the shark mouths and desert camo.
