F-14 pictures

Guys I need some help. I am ready to finally get an F-14 but with the new Witty's out (and I am quite fond of Witty) can anyone give me reasons why the FOV F-14 is better? Please if you can take some detailed pictures. I do not know about or care about avionics placement I care about overall fit and finish, decal placement, and accuracy of scale. If it comes close to a Witty F-15 I will buy it. I was suprised and disappointed to hear Witty got the windscreen wrong and the lack of stenciling is very apparent. Thanks in advance if you post any pics! FOV seemed to get some smaller details right from what I hear and I think a side by side may even be nice.

Re: F-14 pictures

Thanks JP. Now that I have seen the Witty pics(they look pretty good) are there any FOV collectors that could share some photos of the FOV F-14? I am leaning towards the FOV at the moment, but need to be sure.

Re: F-14 pictures

Witty VF-32 F-14B in the foreground, FOV VF-154 F-14A in the background. Both are good models, and I probably prefer the squadron markings of the Witty to the FOV. Overall, however, I think that the FOV is the better model for its detailing, solid construction, and overall finish.

Re: F-14 pictures

Closeup of the Witty cockpit area. The OIF mission markings are excellent, as is the fine lettering around the canopy. Not visible on this side of the nose is the nose art (a swordsmen standing over his vanquished foe with the point of his blade against his throat, under VF-32's motto "Deus et Patria"). The silver nose probe is nicely to scale, but ends up being a bit loose in the slot (I had to apply some white glue).

In the "not so good" category, there are visible seams aft of the RIO's cockpit and around the radome. The aircrew are...well, Witty's usual.

Re: F-14 pictures

Comparative noses, FOV on the left, Witty on the right. Witty's overall airframe configuration is probably superior -- the wings sweep further back and the vertical tails are canted outward at the proper angle. On the other hand, FOV's nose detail is clearly better, with a seamless nose, more clearly demarcated panel lines, and aircrew that can see over their instrument panels. Most noticeably of all, the windscreen on the Witty lacks the distinctive F-14 canopy frame and green-tinted HUD combiner glass.
