Whats the story on this one? WW2 or Korea? I kinda like it ( open flaps aside) and I'm thinking of addig it and the early P-40 to the mix. Thoughts. comments, vocalizations...

VMF-112 USS Bennington Feb 1945 - Maj. Herman Hansen, Jr.

Osprey "Corsair Aces of WWII - Plate 47.

"Hansen claimed a Zero on 30 June 1943 whilst CO of VMF-122. He re-opened his scoring on 17 February 1945 when he shot down an Oscar over Haramachida, Japan, and then went on to destroy 3.5 aircraft and damage 2.5. His FAU is adorned with Bennington's 'Pine Tree' geometric recognition symbol as used in early 1945...these markings were intended to simplify unit recognition with the large number of carriers operating together. However, they proved difficult to recognise and describe, and were replaced by a block letter system introduced in July."
